I heard on the radio yesterday that only the energy saving bulbs will be on sale in the next few years, and that supermarkets will start phasing out stocks of ordinary bulbs within the next year or so. Has anyone els heard this?
What about table lamps and lights where the energy saving bulbs would not fit?

Yes there gonna phase them out .
Its been coming though on the rewires on the council contracts that i was doing they made it so that on 10% of fittings you could only put certain low energy lamps in which had off centre pins.
I should think on table lamps they will make smaller versions of the current energy saving lamps to allow use of them

They do have, or will have bulbs that fit before they phase them out, but if they didn't, what part of buy a new lamp do you think the government or manufacturers would object to?

There are a greater variety of energy-saving bulbs out there than appear on the shelves of Tesco's..

well i was given some free energy saving light bulbs by my electricity company, but the only problem is the fittings are different to normal once. so how are they going to make sure everyone can use them.
