My parents invested in a motel, assigned his "friend" to supervise the construction coz they live away. when I came to check on progress,(the building process spanned for 2-3 years, but is half way done now) I found the construction quality is not acceptable.
1) The friend gave the bathroom tiling job to a plumber who's seventish yrs old, did a poor job on aligning the tiles, some tiles' not even flat that I got worried about customer's safety.
2) the friend bought whole sets of super-ugly cheap toilets(unused), and told me can't return it because we've bought it for over 1or2 yrs, and it was on a special 1/2price.
3)about sound proof, tested onsite myself with normal volume radio, eventhough it's unfurnished empty room with carpet only, I can still hear radio from next room. The friend said it should be alright when all furnished, I asked for optional solutions he said nothing can be done.
what can I do to correct this mess with limited budget?I have more problems than these here...

I'm thinking of making some wind turbines, or just the plans, for sale, , with a quiet design like the ones in these websites:
http://www.pdx.edu/media/s/u/sus_wind_turbine_thmb.jpg
http://www.windside.com/consumers.html

Also, would this be for a home, cottage, or other building? What voltage output would you prefer?

Please specify your city and country, thanks.

FYI, my first turbine will be to charge an electric car, like the one in this video..

I have these wooden chairs. I don't want to paint them with a brush because the wood looks dry and I'll need primer I suppose. It is just two little chairs. Will spray paint work?

EPA rules state that the radon gas should be vented from the basement subfloor all the way to the roof with a fan that must be mounted above grade.
Why can't radon gas be vented out directly through the wall, just like a dryer vent, with the fan mounted in the basement?

Has anyone used one of those sound emitters to rid their yard/house of mice? I've been using glue boards, but really don't want to pick them up to throw away (have caught about 3 so far this year). I've seen those sound emitter things and was wondering if they work and how far will the sound carry (if I put it in my garage, will any mice in the yard run away too)?

I thought of putting wood panels on inside of window with hinges on one side and locks on the other. I would not cover the top(highest) part of window, that way sunshine can still come in. Someone here at work suggested flexible plastic? something like that......anymore low cost suggestions would be appreciated. thanks.

Here in the Seattle area, we have two invasive plants that seem to grow without bounds over everything, english ivy and blackberry bushes. So I got to wondering, if both of these plant predators are in the same spot of land growing against each other, which plant species would eventually dominate and choke the other one out?

I have 2 large planters sitting on my driveway without any plants or trees. I have try twice and failed (both times ficus). Nothing seems to live. I am no green thumb or maybe because my driveway is facing west in Miami. Blazing heat.
Or maybe I'm using the wrong type of soiled.
What types of plants would have the highest percentage of withstanding the direct heat?
NO Catus please.
Something NIce and around 5-6 feet tall.
I am very eager to have some plants there because my house looks empty without those 2 spots being filled.
Thank you ahead.

We installed wood laminate flooring throughout an entire floor of our house. It looks great. The only thing wrong is that the instructions failed to mention cutting the door jamb and sliding the laminte underneath. Now that it's done it seems obvious, but we now have to deal with 1/4" gap between every door jamb or entry way (which we left for expansion). Quarter round won't work in these areas and caulk makes the floor look sloppy. Anybody else ever encounter this problem and find a clean solution? Thanks!

property which needs to be fixed up (really badlly, the inside sucked) they are supposed to take what is valued as a $60,000 house and turned it into something that is approximately 150,000. In my opinion you'd have to tear it down and start over in order for that to happen. What does rehabbing intail? New counter tops, carpet? Help!

I've seen before, (a friend had one) a Carpenter's pencil sharpener that had a 1/4" locking hex shank at the end (So you can slip it into a quick-change drill and sharpen your pencil quickly. I've looked, but I've never been able to find one for myself. Does anyone know who makes them, or where I may be able to find them online?
