how can i make my living room work with blue carpenting black leather couches and white walls?

i want to use light wood as the tv stand , coffee tables and side tables . I dont want a dark look .

the carpet is like a navy blue . I want a feminine look but im trying to compromise with my boyfriend so im stuck with the leather couches. i dont want a dark look .

Bring some color into it with pillows. You can also use contrasting lampshades and accessories. Works for me.

First I would look into a large area rug that would combine your blues and blacks with some other colors that would then allow you to introduce those colors into the room to brighten it. It will also give your floor and sofas some definition and cohesiveness. You can pick up all the colors in your pillows and artwork and accessories but keep it clean not clutttered. I like the idea of glass with this arrangement, but take home a light wood table and see if it works before you invest in the whole room.

How dark a blue is the carpeting?
If the carpeting is quite dark,I don't know as I'd want white walls.
What about a very pale grey or blue for the walls.I think with the blue and black it would be too stark a contrast.
However,everyone to their own taste.Just a suggestion.

You should be able to use wood tables and it will look fine.Add a little nautical stuff to the room . you can find different items to blend with your black and wood. old items off ships add a bit of brass to it too! That will lighten it up!
