Hi,
I have installed a 200 amp service entrance. I am in the process of attaching it to the grounding rod. What size cable should I use? I was told that a size 8 wire is ok, as long as it is protected. However, I was also told that I should go with a size 4. Can I use the protected 8 or am I better off going with the 4? Are there any advantages of using one over the other? Thanks for your time,

We moved into a really old house about 3mo ago. Ever since we turned on the furnace we have been seeing everything from spiders and silverfish to roaches and stink bugs. I was told to buy Diatomaceous Soil since it is only toxic to crawling bugs. Is that true?

Our pool company says the Hayden Navigator is good, but it gets crummy reviews. Does anyone know about the Kreepy Krawley, or another other automatic pool cleaning "machine" you would recommend? I need one that also cleans steps. Thanks!

Old house, JUST enameled the cabinets vanilla white so NOT replacing cabinets, all new white appliances, new white sink, cork floors (the loors are the color of a reddish oak)

Does anyone know how to keep shirts (especially sweatshirts) free of lint, fuzzies and other fabric remnants after you wash them in the washing machine? I've tried almost everything and they look worse coming out of the wash than what they do going in. And those sticky tape-rolls get expensive after a while. Help!!

If i set my thermostat to heat my house to 70 at 6 AM, does it kick on at say 545 to bring up the temp, or just kick on at 6 and run until it reaches 70? I know there are thermostats that work that way, but I am not sure if thats the default, or if it just depends on the model.

I have a new heat pump / AC that was installed in the last 2 months. It seems to be working fine, but I wonder if it's acting correctly in heat mode.

I was standing by the AC Compressor (the outside unit) and heard a motor running, but the fan was NOT running. After some period of time (1 minute?) the fan started spinning to vent air from the compressor chassis. This is while it is operating in heater mode (since it's a bone chilling 60 degress down here in Central Florida! :)

Is this normal behavior of the compressor unit? That the compressor motor would be on while the fan is NOT spinning?

It doesn't act that way in AC mode.

I need my kids' bathroom to not be so steamy. The steam rums down the walls and streaks the paint. I have a double switchplate with two separate switches. I am fairly handy if I have an idea what to look for. I don't mind having the other switch that does nothing. Is there maybe a switch that is designed for multiple wires? Can I just run the wire from the fan switch and double up on the light switch? Thanks for any help!

This is the second month in a row my electric bill has came sky high! I live in a small one bedroom apartment, last bill was for 375 this month I got the bill its for 417 bucks man!! We are billed every 2 months.I spoke with the lady at Electric company she said she gonna send a memo to investugation department or something but I still need to pay bill in the meantime. How or what else can I do here? Anyone have this experiance?

my husband and i just got a equity loan on the house i do not understand how this works part of me is saying that we are getting screwed....
we were approved for 60,000 they only gave us 30,000 upfront and told us that we had to wait 45 days after the windows were put in to get the rest, now when we got the 1st 30,000 we have to go and get estimates and there laywer wrote us out checks we did not get any of the $$ in hand, now we are waiting for the other 30,000 which it has passed 45 days is there anything i can do i know that as they hold our money they are making interest off it and i think it is going to be the same was as the last 30,000 does anyone have any advice on what i should do and is it just me or does this not sound right, like i said we did not have any money in hand we had to show estimates and there lawyers printed out the checks and after we paid for the windows ect we had to bring in the final bill to prove that we paid them.....

When it gets really cold it seems a pot of water on the stove helps - why is this? The thermostat reads the same, only it feels warmer in the house.
Any ideas?

I had one in Portugal. Also someone asked how well they work. I know from experience the propane and natural gas ones work exceptionally well! But I have neither NG or propane here.
