I want to enlarge a couple of my bedroom windows, and wondered if anyone has ever done this or has any expertise advice on whether it would even be possible or wise to do in this situation. Brick house. Corner bedroom with the only windows being 2 that are only 23" wide each, separated by 88 1/2 " on a wall that is a total of 198" (5 1/2 yds.) They face the direct western sun, so the house was probably built this way to block out that sun. But I would like to extend the roof to shade the area (maybe a patio under it) and widen those windows. I like to see OUT and these are too narrow for much window gazing. They are so widely spaced that it looks like they are not in sync together....the room gets on my nerves because of it. And yet....it is my master bedroom. Is this a do-able project, and if so, what kind of price range could I be looking at to get this fixed???

I posted an earlier thread about purchasing a juicer, and growing my own garden in the spring. Many people who responded, said that it would be best to grow organic fruits and veggies. I would love to do this, but I dont think I know how. I assumed that if I planted seeds in my yard, and took care of them properly, than they would grow into organic produce. I assume this because I wont use chemicals or pesticides. Am I right, or is there something special needed to grow organic foods?

I have about 6 expensive bathing suits from International Male, that I can not afford to replace. I have only hand-washed them & always hang them up to dry.

The problem is, that after some years of use, they all have black spots, which appear to be mold, or something like it. I have scrubbed, soaked & even machine-washed them to try to get these spots out, with no success. (They are 80% nylon & 20% spandex-& cannot be put in bleach because they are all different colors).

What I'd like to find out is, is this mold? Why & how did they get this way; & MOST importantly, is it possible to get rid of these little black spots?

Okay, this isn't the most important question in the world but it's sure driving me crazy. I have a cricket with a very loud chirp behind my refrigerator. Every time I get near he (or she) quiets up and if I pull the refrigerator out from the wall the cricket is nowhere to be found. I don't want to use bug spray or poison around the refrigerator but I don't know how to get rid of the thing. I tried sprinkling red pepper behind the refrigerator because I'd heard once that it keeps ants away. The cricket was quiet for most of one night, but now he's back and from the sound of it I think he may have actually developed a taste for the stuff. Any suggestions for sending him away permanently (dead or alive) would be much appreciated. Thanks.

We have a wood pecker that comes every day to the same spot on the side of our house and has pecked a significant hole. The house is siding with a few wood trim boarding. No where else, just the one spot. What can we do besides covering only the wood with metal flashing. Chemicals? Deterant? trap?

I soaked it in dishwasher soap and the sticky part remains and suggestions on how to remove the sticky part would be appreciated. I cannot submerge the entire thing in water.

I want to paint my living/dining/kitchen open space with very bold colors. I do not have the time to sand the spackling off the ceiling to have a smooth finish to paint. Can you and does it look ok to paint a stippled ceiling a color other than white?

My husband and I have 2 dogs, no kids and both work full time. we can't buy a new house, so I want to feel good about our house, and possibly learn some home improvements myself. I have only been married 1 year and a half, and we just can't seem to keep the house organized and tidy all the time. Am I crazy for wanting a nice clean house to come home to? Is there a simple way to get more space in a closet. we have 4 bedrooms 1 bath.
Thank you for listening to my frustrations, any advice would be greatly appreciated, keep in mind I can't sound like I am nagging my husband lol!!!

I have a hot tub which puts out 1000 watts power and the only other thing on the breaker is a light which is 60 watts. The hot tub doesn't work properly, so do I need to add a breaker or do I need to have the hot tub looked at?

How do I make sure I find every little sliver from a broken candle holder? (The tall stem ones)? I broke it when I was making a christmas center piece, it fell over and shattered against the table, onto the floor, (part carpet, part lineolum) over a chair. I have animals and I don't want my two cats and puppy to get the glass in their paws.
I vacummed with a hand vacumm, and swept, but I always seem to find more glass after doing those things. (I am quite clumsy, and break things at least once a month.)

I didn't sand my table, and the original finish is on there, and I already put the minwax wood finish Ebony, and I was wondering how long it will take to completely dry. Its turning into a shiny piano black, which is fine, I just need to know how long it will take to dry before its not sticky any more.
