I didn't sand my table, and the original finish is on there, and I already put the minwax wood finish Ebony, and I was wondering how long it will take to completely dry. Its turning into a shiny piano black, which is fine, I just need to know how long it will take to dry before its not sticky any more.

The table was never waxy...it was a dull finish originally

It depends on if it is Oil based or Water based.

Oil based can feel sticky for days. Water based shouldn't feel sticky after a day.

Also, read the can.

If you used Minwax Ebony stain/finish, it might take a day or so. Put some of whatever finish you used on the underside of the table, then you might be able to use that area as a test.

Then again, depending on what "finish" you actually used and what finish was on the table already, it might never dry. I had a customer bring me some furniture, to which they had applied a minwax finish. It was still tacky in some places after several weeks.

Minwax says
Dry Time: 2-6 hours, depending on size of area filled

Uh oh, you probably should have sanded, or removed the old finish. But, hopefully it will just take a little longer for it to dry. Getting some heat in the room will help, if that can't happen, then stir the air with a fan.

normally six to eight hours.

If you did not get the wax off of the table, it may never dry.

That would depend on the conditions (humidity, temperature) of the location the item is in.
