When I have lights on a dimmer switch, it seems that when the adjustment is not a full power, a humming noise comes from either the lights or the switch itself. Is there a way to eliminate this? Or is just simply a low quality dimmer switch?

Thanks for the help!

Hi all, my friend found a dead bird in her toilet. She had been away for the weekend (the house was empty) and came home to find a dead bird in the toilet. We believe that there was no way that the bird could have flown in and then into the toilet....we think the lid was down also. Is there any way that the bird could have come up from the plumbing??? Please give specifics if you know and how we could prevent this from happening again. It was quite a shock!
Thanks!

Hello. For research & study purposes, I need to keep many books (medical and other) and magazines in my library at home. And mainly because we have young children, we need to censor or permanently hide some inappropriate pictures or simply unwanted pictures in these resources. I thought of using a black permanent marker, but this method may not be ideal if the pictures are really big or if the marker will seep through to the other side of the paper and destroy some needed reading material. I thought of using paper tapes to stick on the pages, but this may make the book or magazine end up looking weird & thick if there are many pages to sort out. Cutting the whole page would certainly be the best way, but it will only work if we don't need any of the reading material on either side of the paper to be cut. Do you have any creative ideas to help us permanently hide unwanted pictures in books & magazines? Either one method or a combination of methods depending on the details?

All the rest of the radiators are working well but this one. I tried bleeding it but to no avail. The tubes leading to it get very hot, but the radiator itself remains cold.

the super bolted the window around my a/c and i just leave it in all year. someone a few flights up from me has an a/c now that is above mine and whenever it rains it is like water torture to hear this monotonous drip of water from the unit up there....

what can i do? so far all i can think of is to get a huge sponge and stick it on the top of the a/c unit to absorb the water - and there has GOT to be something better then that right?

no matter how hard I seem to try, my house always seems messy, not filthy, just untidy.
I share with my son, so he doesn't help, but I always seem to have to clean up and tidy up all around. Am I just disorganised? lazy? does anyone else suffer like this? I suppose a full time job doesn't help, any suggestions?

I can actually get to the roof. I have recently moved in to the house. Is there a way of knowing where the joists are above the plasterboard?
