My peace lilly is looking sick. The edges of the leaves are dying and some leaves have died completely. How should I remove the dead leaves and what can I do about the ones that are slowly turning brown? I water it about every second day and wipe the leaves of dust once a week. What am I doing wrong?

Any literature out there (from an unbiased, independent source) that compares/rates "like" competing AC systems (Tons, SEER, Component Materials, Warranty, Price) from Trane, RUUD, Carrier, Amana, Westinghouse, American Standard, etc.

Every AC company tends to promote the unit that they have agreements (or biggest profit margin) with and always play down the other competitive units. Likewise, pricing in the industry is strenously controlled and not available to consumers (even retail pricing) unless you get a quote, making it extremely difficult to do your research.

I live in a 3rd floor apartment, with 1 window AC. I went away for 1 night, and I came back and it was like a sauna. I have cranked the AC for a few hours, but it's not as cold as I want it to be. How long will it take to cool the apartment? Or should I go to a hotel for the night? It is hot as hell!

I keep the thermostat at seventy seven to save electricity. I changed the filter two weeks ago and I cleaned the outside unit 6 weeks ago with a solvent and pressure with a hose spray.. My house is 1240 sq feet and the a/c unit was updated in 1995.

Why do I feel so overwhelmed, most especially when it comes to dishes? I really would like to be able to grow out of it, but I can't seem to be able to do so. I have had this problem all my life and it has caused me a couple of marriages. To simply say "get off your butt and do the work" doesn't do it. I tell myself all the time to no avail. It is always "later", "tomorrow" and it never comes. I wish I could afford a maid, but unfortunately I don't earn enough to afford one.

How do I change? Please no flaming! I'm really desperate here.

Me and my friends were enjoying TV when suddenly we noticed a HUMONGUS UGLY BUG!! We found it in NJ and is about the size of a half dollar. It really grabbed onto the blanket when we tryed to vaccum it up and it didn't move much. Here is a link for a picture of it...

Doesn't it look rare and exotic? You would be lucky to even see one of these in person! The few that are left are being held by people who could not bear to part with them!

Is it OK to wash light colored dirty cleaning rags (used to clean toilets, etc.) with other white colored clothes; like white shirts, underwear, etc.? I say it's OK because I add bleach to the wash and it helps save water & electricity by keeping the # of loads per day to a minimum. My spouse says it's unsanitary to wash these dirty cleaning rags w/ normal clothes and should be washed separately.

I have a old desk that is pretty beat up. There are scratches and wear, plus a 70s dark brown finish. What is the best way to make it look presentable in a old world style room? Someone told me I should get a distressing kit or strip it and restain. Any advice?

Obviously in the same garden, but do they have to be growing right next to each other to be fully effective?

I've read that peppermint repels flea beetles. Peppermint is soooooooo invasive! Can I just cut the leaves off of a PMint plant elsewhere, and scatter it on what I want to protect? Or make a spray?

We used mouse traps baited with peanut butter all over the house, and every morning the peanut butter is gone, but the traps haven't been set off. We can even see teeth marks in the peanut butter sometimes. We tested the traps and they DO work, they're not set up incorrectly. How is this happening and what can we do?

I live in Michigan and my and my neighbors' lawns have Quack Grass. Quack grass is similar to grass but has a wider leaf, lighter green color and grows about 40% faster than lawn grass. I have tried tediously pulling it out one at a time, and I tried using Roundup to the dismay of my lawn. Is there something commercially available to kill the quack grass ?
