If it is an Ange's trumpet, better known as Datura, it is extremely poisonous. You want to make sure not to touch it, or at least wash your hands after. Some people are sensitive to the plant and will make you break out. Whatever you do, if you do decide to get rid of it, do not burn it. Like poison ivy, burning them can release bad stuff into the air that can make people very sick.

My sister had one of these too. It sounds like what you have. The spiked balls are the seed pods and will turn brown and burst open with seeds inside. It was also trailing and had large long white flowers that looked like a trumpet.I think she said it was called :Angel Trumpet Vine
(please try to find out what you have I heard some of these vines could be poison)

What part of the world? Are the green spiked balls kinda striped like tiny watermelons? I think maybe you are refering to the hedgehog gourd.
