My peace lilly is looking sick. The edges of the leaves are dying and some leaves have died completely. How should I remove the dead leaves and what can I do about the ones that are slowly turning brown? I water it about every second day and wipe the leaves of dust once a week. What am I doing wrong?

i water mine about every 7 days or so,maybe to much water.i would start there.also dont have in direct sunlight.prune the dead leaves at the base of the plant.i would leave the others until they are totally dead.you could trim up the brown part if you like to give it a better appearance.try an organic fertilizer.also make sure there are drainage holes in the bottom of your pot,if not either transplant to a new pot or add about 2-3 inches of stone to the bottom of the pot you are using now.peace lilies have a problem with their feet(roots)in standing water.good luck

The key to success for these plants is EXCELLENT drainage (meaning a very coarse textured soil), being a bit pot bound, never letting the plant sit in water, and plenty of decent light.
I suspect your peace lilly is wilting because it is too wet.
Those who say the soil should stay moist are wrong. It needs to be well watered when you water it but then not watered again until the soil has been very dry for several days. Even when the surface of the soil is dry there is a lot of moisture just a couple of inches down in the pot. Too much water rots the roots very easily. Picking the plant up and weighing it is the best way to judge the dryness. Heavy is wet, light is dry. Drain it so it is not standing in water and let it dry out as quickly as possible so the roots have a breathing spell. Keep it on the dry side and it will perk back up and grow.
They can be grown on top of a vase with fish but there has to be an air space between the base of the plant and the top of the water so there is a section of roots that can breathe.
Good luck.

Try watering it less (once a week perhaps). You could also try re-potting it, they like lots of room to grow so try putting it in a bigger pot, and with fresh potting mix, if the pot looks to small.

Indoor plants don't like being near electrical equipment (stereos, tv etc)

Give it a little sun every now and again or put it in a place where there is filtered light.

I understand your dilemma as I keep killing and resurrecting my own peace lillies!

I didn't know how it would turn out but I planted mine outside in the shade of a tree but still getting plenty of light. It constantly has six or more flowers. I live in S.Florida. If there is a freeze I'll cover it with a blanket and hope it survives. If not I'll get another one when all chance of frost is over.
