unless they quit at least 3 months before the operation.

Surgeons are finding that smokers take longer to heal and are more prone to infection,. This places an added burdon on the system as well as costs.

He has said that it would take a smoker between 6 weeks to 3 months to be able to return their bodies to a similar state as non smokers to be eligable for the same surgery if they gave up smoking.

Do you think that smokers should be allowed access to the same medical treatments as non smokers if they refuse to give up?

Do you thgink smokers should also be candidates for transplant surgery?

I have a cyst ontop of my head, under my hair. I had it looked at by the doctor and he told me not to worry about it unless it gets bigger. I now have noticed another one and it sort of hurts when I press down on it. Should I have it looked at also? This one is smaller then the other, but since I am worried about everything health related, I worry that it could be cancerous.

Someone told me I cannot go buy just any iron supplement because it might be harmful.

I had my blood tested, and all I know is I'm anemic. I don't know how bad it is though. My friend told me I need to know the exact values of my blood (I don't know what those values are called) before I can go get iron supplement.

Is that true?
So, I have to have my blood tested again to buy the right supplement?

Alcoholism runs in my family. I have a family member who is an alcoholic. She is not in denial and has been in and out of AA for years. She realizes she needs help and is going to enter a 2wk rehab soon. She is the type that hides this disease so well that we never know when she is on or off the wagon. No one would ever guess she has a problem. She is single, lives alone, and has no kids (and so far it has not affected her job) so there is no one to really hold her accountable for her drinking. Recently she told her immediate family/friends that she relapsed several months ago (this even includes her boss). She's trying everything she knows to get well, and I'd like to help her anyway I can.

Besides holding her accountable daily and going to meetings with her, what are some things I can do to help that a person wouldn't normally think of? If anyone has experience with this, I'd really appreciate it.
