Please see the web pages for more details on Labyrinthitis, Tinnitus and Meniere's disease.
Meniere's disease is an inner ear disorder that produces vertigo, fluctuating sensorineural hearing loss, and tinnitus. There is no diagnostic test. Vertigo and nausea are treated with anticholinergics or benzodiazepines. Diuretics and a low-salt diet may decrease frequency and severity of episodes. For severe cases, the vestibular system can be ablated with topical gentamicin or surgery.
Consult an ENT specialist.

On a visit to the Philippines -'way back in 1982 I caught the very SAME affliction, myself!
If I went down, down - down in a lift in a tall Makati building, I would actually FALL OVER -when stepping OUT on the ground floor!
I was young, and I felt SO stupid! My ears rang, my vision often spun.. (-all sounds sooo similar!)
A brother-in-law doctor in Paco assured me [that it will] pass -but HALT ALL caffiene.. (which I did) Ears ringing are the "warning bell.".
I was advised to take a complete rest -down at wonderfull "Big Lulla-guna" Beach,
-at Puerto Galera, and gently do some long breast-stroke swims: -every second day..
Well, that whole Mindoro visit -and the slower pace, and the rest ,and the friendly Tagalog, & part-Mungyan people..
-oh, WoW!
did ME a "Power-of-Good"! Within ONE week I was "RIGHT"..
-but I loved that place SO much!
Well, it wasn't a hard decission: I stayed there -under Arnold's watchfull eye- at "Rositas", an extra 10 days! In the '80's.. it was BETTER than Bali ever was..
(and THAT is really, 'saying something'!).. el Oro (at that time) may have been the brtter accomodation: but Rosita's had the true 'touch'.
My affliction was somehow linked to TOO much coffee;
TOO much pressure in Makati; -and riding on air-planes, (-maybe..).
But, I found, that even, now I am near, 'old', I still keep up -during our hot months, long, slow breast-stroke swimming:
to relieve ALL stress.
48 hours later one will ache, somewhat at around bed-time
(when an older person BEGINS swimming for exercise). Just take TWO Asprin -that night in the midddle of your evening meal.
The Asprin is ALSO [good for you] -in another way: it keeps an older person's blood, thinner: oh, yes!; -and THAT IS a GOOD thing.. (So I take an Aspro EVERY night, since, once turning fifty years..)
(Panadol, or Naprosan WILL harm you; -and just don't even THINK -about "Celebrex"! .."Voltaren" burnt a HOLE -straight-through my father's stomach, almost KILLING him!
-So, LQOK OUT! -if you are the Arthritis-type).. Codeine is "nice" -in a cold, Muginaw WINTER -(but it 'fixes' nothing.. AND it is addictive-as-all-Hell..!)
So, Compadre: try a couple of trips to the steam-baths in Laguna. Get her to float & breast-stroke.. -but -most-of-all- completely cut out her COFFEE.. -None!
AT first -for 2 weeks- she WILL suffer, "caffiene-withdrawl"..
(This will have ANYBODY feeling quite GRUMPY.. -all, & every morning, but that will pass). Probably she will, [at that] time lose (also) her 'giddyness: and, 'come right'. Seek advice ON a cheap source of Nicotinimide: Vitamin B 3.-(maybe, enough in BEANS..)
But I really mean it: be sure [that she is not low] -on Vitamin B 3; (There's none -in white rice)..

It is Vertigo including Meniers' and there is no medicine in this world to treat it. First your mom was alright naturally and not because of the medicine.
You should go to a skilled acupuncturist and nobody else.
It arises due to blockage of Vital Energy in our body or its' unbalancing. Acupuncture is the best treatment for almost all non-infectious diseases.

It sounds like you are describing vertigo which can be caused by an imbalance of fluid in her ears. If she has any medcations she should be taking it and if not she more than likely needs to get another Rx for it. More than anything vertigo is annoying and is not life threatneing.

There is another condition called "tinitus" that affects hearing and can affect balance.
It is caused by damage to the ear drum, like from an ear infection or raptured ear drum from infection or "popping" your ears.
I didn't think vertigo was considered a disease...

Like the other answers say, it sounds like vertigo. She should try taking a decongestant like Sudafed or Claritan. It clears up the liquid in her ear and nasal passages.

Sounds like vertigo. Not life threatening but very annoying.
Google it and see what you get, but if it gets serious go see a doctor again
