I'm 26, I was diagnosed a year ago with migraines. I also had cat scans done at that time to make sure that was all it was, nothing bad came up.

First of all I understand the pain of migraines and over time have come up with a plan that works for me.
1. Don't forget to eat. If you skip meals your blood sugar drops and can trigger a migraine.
2. Don't drink diet softdrinks AT ALL--they will make you have migraines!
3. Don't be afraid to eat something a bit fatty when you feel yourself feeling a migraine coming on, this will stabilize your blood sugar.
4. Take meds immediately when you feel the first signs of a migraine coming on, if you wait it will be too late and nothing will work.
5. Look for triggers in your environment: make a log of foods, amount of rest or lack thereof, or any forms of stress that happen day to day, and when the migraines occur. Try to define what your triggers are.
6. Lastly, I would incorporate 2 things into your daily regimen: Take Magnesium and the herb Feverfew. Take these every day as they tend to reduce the number and frequency of migraines, but only if you take them every day.

I have had migraines for 25 years that are like that. They go for days and I get tender spots on my head that last afterward. Have you tried tryptan drugs? I use Amerge and I am going to acupuncture, which helps. I take fiorinal, too. Long ago I tried demerol in pill form or shots. The shot would work, but only while I was passed out. Then I'd wake up to migraine and drug hangover.
Here are some things to try:
Head-On on your neck
Lavender and peppermint oil mixed, a few drops to a few drops of olive oil on you neck and the side of your head
Hot or cold packs on your neck
Petadolux herbal medication
Magnesium supplements
Here's a good site to learn more & find a good headache doctor:

if you cant get to the doctor (ER, walk in clinic or whatever is closest to you) tonight, a trick that my mom swears by is get some tiger balm or any muscle cream that produces heat. Put that on your forehead and the back of your neck, take some medication (tylenol or whatever you have there) and try to lay down and sleep.
Her migraines were so bad that this trick seemed to work because the heat loosened up the veins and so on.
I dont know about the bruise though. But because of that, I'd definitely get to the doctor.

Have you tried a cold compress? Whenever I have a migrane I usually end up having to lay down in a very dark and very quiet room with a cold compress wherever it hurts. For me, migraines make it so it hurts to even talk or listen to people talk to me. Have you been eating okay? Maybe you are inadvertingly eating something that keeps triggering your migraine like chocolate? I think that you should probably go to the doctor. Maybe you need something stronger for your migraines since sometimes the medicines we take lose their effectiveness. I really hope you get to feeling better.

You need to call your doctor or go to the ER and do it now. A migraine that lasts more than 72 hours without at least a solid four hours pain free is diagnosed as status migrainous and puts you at increased risk of stroke.

Well not knowing your age or health I would say go see a doctor. Lying in a hot tub of water with no noise or disturbance may work, a good massage or even reflexology might help, but it could be an infected tooth or ear/sinus thing going on, do you have a high temp or blood pressure reading? Are you pregnant? Don't OD on pain killers, it's not worth killing your liver or getting an ulcer if the meds aren't working.

I have had several migraines in my life, and there is a point where only IV drugs (that usually only hospitalss have) can stop the migraine and ease the pain.

My wife and I both get migraines. I have noticed that there are as many ways of dealing with migraines as there are people who get them. My wife's are more severe and more frequent than mine and she sometimes must go tot he emergency room for a special shot. I find that the only thing that works for me is to smoke some pot and go to sleep for a full 8-10 hours in a dark room. Others have had success with THC as well.

talk to your doctor. excedrine has caffine, which is a temporary fix. works on your veins. but talk to your doctor. my wife has some pills for that and they work immediately. only problem is which med insurance you have; because they are twenty dollars a pill and two for a migrane makes forty bucks....however; fourty bucks to cure a full blown migrane is really cheap, don't you think? good luck.

you should go to the doctor and get prescription medication. My mom used to get migranes like crazy and she would take excedrin but like you said it wouldn't last long and sometimes it just didn't work. She went to the doctor and the doctor precribed her something and now she just takes that when she gets them and now with the medicine she doesn't get them that much anymore.
