I have an Arnold Chiari Malformation, type 1. My son's biological sister got diagnosed with the same thing last month. We're trying to find statistics on how rare it is, how many people per thousand are diagnosed, or whatever. And we're also wondering, is it genetic or hereditary? Links appreciated.

Does anyone know what excessive thirst is caused by? In the last 3 days i have drank like 2 1/2 to 3 gallons of tea and water. I have to have a drink every second of the day. If i go without drinking for more than an hour I feel sick. Does anyone know if this is normal, or is it a sign of something? I have been tested for diabetes and it was negitive. Could there be something else?

the radiologist and neuro keep saying my MRI of the brain is unchanged yet when i read the copy it says things it didnt say before. i ask what this stuff means and get no answer. there is a large region of confluent increased white matter signal intensity on FLAIR and T2 weighted imaging in the right frontoparietal lobes that is associated with adjacent and confluent involvement of the cerebral cortex of the right prefrontal gyrus and even a small segment of the right postcentral gyrus. this is associated with cortical atrophy and adjacent sulcal widening in these regions. what does this mean and what would cause shrinkage in a 34 yr old woman? there is also some asymmetry of the brainstem such that the right cerebral peduncle and right pons are smaller and less conve than the left. now what does that mean and what would cause that?

I have had these "attacks" since December. Adding fiber to my diet has helped, but I am still having them. I have done research on the Internet, and I am sure I am having gall bladder attacks. My doctor won't see my for over a week. Is that okay, or should I go to the ER if I have an attack between now and then? The pain is awful, lasts for hours, and makes me feel like crap the next day.

I used to get migraines a lot. I suffer primarily from "classic" migraines.

When I get a migraine, I first go blind in one side of both eyes. I then get a circular "lightning flash" or aura that gradually moves and opens outward in my field of view. My vision would eventually recover, but when I was young, I would end up with an absolutely excruciating headache on the side of my head opposite the blindness. I would also vomit.

At one point, I was having migraines almost every day. But I eventually noticed that I had been awakening to an alarm clock that had been placed on the other side of my room. I moved the clock so that it was right over my head, and the migraines suddenly stopped. I later learned that I can produce migraines within five minutes by simply jumping up immediately after doing squats while lying. Now I understand that I can easily avoid migraines altogether by simply never jumping up suddenly from the supine position to the vertical position.

CPAP machines are used to treat Sleep Apnea. They are ugly machines, but Dressup by Brenda make them look pretty cool with many patterns to chose from. Someone could have Sleep Apnea and not know it. It should be diagnosed as it can lead to many life-threatening, long-term illnesses. This is not an advertisment, but a plea for all those who are tired all the time, fall asleep at their desk or just drag through the day and don't know why. Sleep Apnea gets worse if untreated. I started falling asleep while driving before I realized something was very wrong. Don't take chances if you think you may have Sleep Apnea. Talk to your doctor. It just could save your life.
