I am really having problems with my puffy eyes. Is there anyhting I can do at home to get rid of the fluid build up behind my eyes???

There are three major treatments for Grave's Disease. They are taking antithyroid medications, radioactive iodine to kill off some of the thyroid cells, and surgery for removal of thyroid.
I couldn't find anything on information to reduce the puffy eyes.

I was diagnosed with Graves Disease 16 years ago. I lost 80 pounds in 3 months and had the iodine treatment which didn't help me at all and then I tried the medicine that is supposed to cure it and I was one of the 1 in a million that was allergic to the medicine. I ended up with surgery and have taken medicine ever since. The most important thing you need to do and it is the MOST IMPORTANT THING is to find a good doctor. Not one who just goes blah, blah and doesn't listen to you but a good doctor who will help you and be understanding.

Graves Disease is caused by a hyperactive thyroid. It can't really be 'cured'...but it can be treated...in a variety of ways. Partial thyroidectomies (removal of a portion of the thyroid gland) has been tried...it has been found to be less than successful. The most common surgery is a full thyroidectomy...removal of ALL the thyroid tissue. If no surgery is done...then anti-thyroic medication is the answer.

Grave's disease is the old name for thyrois problems. You need to see a good endocrinologist and get on thyroxin or other treatment. That's the only thing that will decrease the eye protrusion.
