I used to get migraines a lot. I suffer primarily from "classic" migraines.
When I get a migraine, I first go blind in one side of both eyes. I then get a circular "lightning flash" or aura that gradually moves and opens outward in my field of view. My vision would eventually recover, but when I was young, I would end up with an absolutely excruciating headache on the side of my head opposite the blindness. I would also vomit.
At one point, I was having migraines almost every day. But I eventually noticed that I had been awakening to an alarm clock that had been placed on the other side of my room. I moved the clock so that it was right over my head, and the migraines suddenly stopped. I later learned that I can produce migraines within five minutes by simply jumping up immediately after doing squats while lying. Now I understand that I can easily avoid migraines altogether by simply never jumping up suddenly from the supine position to the vertical position.

Get to a neurologist and find out what he says. Your symptoms are classic, I'm not undermining your pain. I understand it too well. My son tragically committed suicide because he couldn't stand it anymore. He hadn't been to a specialist in years. They have done a ton of studies and know much more now then they ever did about migraines. Please seek out and see a neurologist immediately. Don't suffer needlessly.

I have suffered from migraines since I was 10 years old-I am now 50 so I have had 40 years experience. I do know a bit about them. First, you can have a migraine at any time. There is no set pattern-I have gone months and even years without having a single migraine. There are many migraine triggers. Hormones play a big part. That is why women suffer from migraines 3 times more than men. A week before your period is the worst time. I found that birth control pills helped me. Also, sinus problems and allergies as well as hot weather can trigger migraines. Certain foods can also be a trigger-chocolate and sugar are the number 1 offenders. Cheese can also do it. Watch your stress level too. Ask your Doctor about the triptan drugs such as imitrex and maxalt. These are very effective-they are expensive though. I have found that 2 regular excedrin works pretty good most of the time-the trick is to take medicine before your headache gets to bad. Good luck.

this is a very goot question. i've been having severe migraines for a very long time now. usually about once or twice a month. nobody seems to understand me and thinks im "exaggerating" the pain. however, i know what you mean. first one side of my eye goes blind, like i've been looking at the sun for too long. then the otehr side... then somehow, the back of my head hurts and i feel like one of my eyes is going to pop out. then i feel nauseated and have to throw up about 10 times. the ONLY thing i can do to feel better is vomit everything in my stomach and then fall asleep for at least 3 hours. then, when i wake up, i am still fragile and my head pounds a bit, but the vomitting feeling and migraine is gone. is there a faster cure for migraines than just sleep? i always wanted to seek help but don't have the money too... good luck though!

I get these too. I get into bed with some hot towels wrapped around my head and make the room as dark as possible. I also take Excedrin Migraine and hot cup of coffee or tea. this is what works for me give it a try. My heart goes out to you I know how bad they hurt. Just try to take easy and I hope you feel better soon.

I have a friend who has migraine, and she has to avoid the sun. Another person I know, who actually happens to be a child, has to avoid nuts and chocolates. Lucky for her, she's someone who hates nuts and chocolates!
I guess God Knows Best. LOL.

At the first sign of a migrane I take Amidrine that my neurologist perscribed. I also take an herb called feverfew twice a day. I've done that a few months now and now my migranes aren't as bad as they once were.
