I did an HIV test today. It came back non-reactive. But I am worried coz the test report showed that an s/co ratio was 0.53. It was non reactive since it was less than 1. But what does the number 0.53 mean? The doctor told me that the test is considered negative if the value is less than 1...but why? What happens at 1? What is the difference between 1 and 0.53 ?Is it possible that I have HIV?

I asked earlier if i should leave my cold sore alone or pop it. most of you said leave it alone. my question is, its on the verge of popping i can tell. I know it will probably pop when I go to sleep tonight when I toss and turn and put pressure on it. So why not pop it now where I can becareful with it and make sure I dont get it over all. If I let it pop on its own, it will probably leak all over. Doesnt it make sense to pop it carefully on my own so I dont spread it. I remember years back when I had one I popped it and nothing happened. Just tryin to be more careful. Suggestions. Oh and yes I got some abreva I put it on twice today so far. A friend said put peroxide on it or was it rubbin alcohol?

I made a appointment with a doctor.

I have had a ringing in my ear for about two weeks and just curious to know what it is. It started one night and continued for a few days and then I got a cold a few days later. The more I cough the more they ring, but now that the cold is gone the ringing goes away two days and is back four more days and leaves and comes back any diagnosis before I go to my appointment?
Thanks for your answers

If a college student comes down with meningitis, would all of the other students who took classes in those same buildings also have to get tested, even if they weren't experiencing any of the symptoms and if so, what exactly would that testing entail?
Where I go to college, something's going around that, according to my mother, who is a nurse, a possible precursor to meningitis and I was just wondering what exactly I would have to go through, as far as testing is concerned, should either any of my classmates or another person attending a class in one of the same buildings that I do comes down with meningitis.

I was feeling great this morning, then ate Taco Bell at lunch. Two hours later I began getting chills, aches, and I feel kind of weak. My head hurts a little too, but I don't feel sick to my stomach or have diarrhea, etc. Is it just a coincidence I would get these flu like symptoms after eating there? The food tasted fine.

I guess I'll just wait and see if I start getting sick.

After months of IV treatment, the infection was still present. I had to have the hip replacement re-done. This surgeon was able to remove all the infection.

My question; will the MRSA creep up on me again? Also I still have alot of pain and stiffness from the surgery. How long will this last?
