Too late, probably, if you've been in contact with her anytime in the last ten days to twenty days. If you were exposed in the last 72 hours only, the chicken pox vaccine helps. Acyclovir, an anti-viral drug, can also help. You also have to avoid exposure now for around two weeks.

I believe there is a vaccine for it... but otherwise you need to avoid her and wash every surface that she touches in the house that you might touch as well. If you are young, you might want to go ahead and get the chicken pox so you will be immune to them when you are older... ask a doctor or your mom about this. I am 24 and have never had them and I wish I did as a child because it is more dangerous as an adult to have them.

By the time the diagnosis is made, it is usually too late to avoid infection in contacts.. The disease is most infectious in the late incubation period and early illness. May be you have been already exposed to it in your childhood, and are immune due to the presence of antibodies. Otherwise, wait and see. The incubation period is 11 to 21 days.

get vaccinated, if you have stay away or if you already had them recently. But if you did have them you can get them again. I never had them until my daughter got them from school. I didn't know you get vaccinated because I didn't you could get the shot. Check M.D web good info. at that site.

if you haven't had chicken pox yet you can just avoid her until its gone or you can shell out a few bucks and get a varicella vaccine at your doctors office.

if you are young, it is probably better to catch it on purpose. you can only get it once. if you catch it later in life it can be very dangerous.(even fatal)
