My great grandma who has had several heart problems and low blood pressure has been having trouble lately. WE found out she has a block in her heart. Her husband had the same thing and had a pacemaker put in and the doctor told us if we did not bring him to the hospital, he would have died. There is NO way my grandma can make it through surgery she is just too weak. Her blood pressure is as low as my grandpa's was when they said he would have died. Is there any other options for my grandma or is she going to die? She is 89 years old.

UNLIKE what you hear in the media canola oil is NOT good and promotes INFLAMATION in the arteries as does trans fatty acids

The Anti Coronary Club 1966, ONE OF 18 randomized clinical dietary intervention trials to date found that patients randomized to canola oil had 9 deaths from coronary heart disease, (despite lowering their cholesterol by 23 mg/dl lower than animal fat crowd) compared to none in the animal fat crowd.

Are yuou aware of this????

The Women';s Health Initiative 2006 was the latest one of the 18 NONE of which show any support at all to the anti cholesterol paradigm

First of all I'm only 21 years old, so I'm really not sure it can be heart attack.

Almost about two weeks ago I was in a car crash. At that time, my chest, back and left shoulder was hurting the most. Last night my chest was hurting really bad. When I breath in it hurt and it also made my left shoulder hurt. I was in so much pain. As of right now, just my left shoulder hurt. Please help.

My BP has always been 120/70 and its been creeping up over that past few months to 140/80 which is where it stands now.
I know thats not "high" per se-- but with the new standards being lowered for acceptable BP, where does this reading lie on the risk line?

Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

My husband was just deployed so I have moved states and had to get my baby a new doctor. We went in for a check up today and he told me that she had a heart murmur. I never knew it before now, and I am scared to death. I want any information possible. I don't want to read what doctors say in their studies, I want to hear from people who have had to deal with it themselves. I want the truth, and I want to know what to do next. My doctor has ordered an immediate echocardiogram(sp) or something like that. Thank you for any information that you can share with me.

Hi, I'm a housewife, today while i was doing my work on my computer, i felt a sudden fast heartbeat, this is not the first time. I had experience this quite many times, everytimes it happened it last a few seconds only, say 5-25 seconds. today felt longer, maybe around 1 1/2 min. sometimes i had that once in a while, sometimes it happen like once every 3 or 4 days. I don't think i'm stress, i'm a petite and slim 27 years old woman,my parents are diabetic, and my father also has high blood pressure. there is no other family illness that i know of. i had a full body check up about 3 years ago, everything was fine with me, no diabetic etc...what could be wrong??

Sometimes when i stand up, after sitting calmly without doing anything, after i stand up, i can feel my heart pumping blood into my head really fast, and my head is throbbing with the heart beats, and about 10 seconds later, i have a headache. Is there something wrong with that? or is it a normal thing?
Also when i climb up stairs, when i reach the end, i can feel it in my neck, and i begin to breathe very very rapdily, but i have tried going very slow on the stairs, and it had the same effect.

Why do doctor's offices schedule appointments, only to have you waiting hours to be seen for a 15 minute diagnosis. But if you're late they'll reschedule you?

Last friday I was admitted to the Hospital thru the ER dept with "chest pains" which nitro and pain meds brought under control my b/p and heart rate were also quite high, I've noticed now even my resting pulse rate is high 90s....at the least. I had a stress/echo which came back abnormal seems I have some scarring of the heart? Long story short the Doc that discharged me said what I had wasn't chest pain, but possibly GERD or heartburn, and did not refer me to a cardio doc? I feel like this doc was way off base.

Opinions?

My 10 yr old daughter has an ongoing and consitant heart rate of between 120 and 180. I have taken her to a pediatric cardiologist who had holtz monitoring and cardiac event monitoring done for her to determine the problem. the holtz monitor revealed no abnormal heart functions just the high rate. I know that this is not normal and it scares me she has chest pains, gets dizzy and experiences heart palpitations and light headedness. I am not sure what else to look at they checked here for SVT and so far all they can tell me is that she has tachacardia. Im sure that prolonged time with her heart rate high like this will hurt her or damage her heart. Any suggestions of questions to ask the dr.
