High blood pressure effects your heart by the followings:

1) destruction of micro capillaries of the heart.
2) Stress on coronary arteries @100mm Hg diastolic.
3)Thickening of Coronary arteries, resulting in narrowing of lumen starting from Angina upto Myocardial Infarction or sudden death in advanced cases.
4) Enlargement of left ventricle(LVH) at first followed by Cardiomegaly and leading to congestive heart failure.
There are many more but I have summerised the common ones e.g dissecting aneurysm of aorta etc.

Echo for short. They found a moderate in amount leakage @ my Arotic valve of my heart. They said it was caused by my blood pressure being up so high for so long ( and I didnt even know it ran high)Now I'm out of work til further notice and waiting to see another heart doc to see if I may be looking @ open heart surgery to replace my Aortic valve.Keep a check on your blood pressure people!!!! High blood pressure makes the heart works harder, and the arteries take a beating, and your chances of a stroke, heart attack, and kidney problems are greater.
