Coversyl is from the group of medicines used for high blood pressure called ACE inhibitors. ACE (Angiontensin Converting Enzyme) is a substance in the body that can make blood pressure high. So this medicine is used to inhibit or stop it from forming in the body.

But at the same time, this medicine stops another substance that keeps irritating stuff from the throat and causing cough. So the people who take it have cough.

There is another medicine group Angiotensin Receptor Blocker. They do stop blood pressure from getting high, but not cough. Ask your doctor if your husband's medicine can be changed to this one. But only the doctor can tell what is the best medicine for your husband.

This medication is an ACE inhibitor and they are notorious for causing a dry cough. It is often a reason that people do not take the medication as directed. Talk with his doctor if the problem is bad enough that he will not take the medication or if it is causing other problems. Often, the symptoms lessen with time.

Just make sure he continues therapy for the high blood pressure. There are many medications out there and he may have to try several.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Sure why not being an ACE inhibitor , it can cause cough specially during night or early morning hours.
If it is the first time, other causes must be ruled out. As h/o taking medication please contact your respective consultant.
