because you let them.. so dont.
stand up for your rights in the office (unless it is a free clinic or discount clinic, then they have you by the balls cause you are not paying them or not paying them enough), make them see you within a reasonable time of your appointment, and call on your way there to see if they are running on time
if they keep doing this them tell them you are going to find a better doctor

It is simple. Next time you go to a doctor's appointment, then tell them your situation. It is binded by law, no matter your age, that doctor-patient privelage is unbreakable. There are three ways in which someone can look at your medical records or ask your doctor about you (and get answers). If it has been declared that you might harm yourself or someone else, if you are in a legal proceeding that the judge declares your medical records as evidence in a criminal case, or if you die. Don't wait aroudn and see what happens, ask yuor doctor. Worse case, go to see yuor school counselor (they are licensed professional counselors). They can talk with you and refer you to see someonme if it is depression.

Don't be so damn self-centered. It is possible the doctor had a patient who needed a lot more care and attention than he had planned on. Like, was he supposed to let the patient die just because you had an appointment. Perhaps there will be a day when YOU need extra attention. You'll get,and the next person will have to wait.
If this is a chronic situation, speak to the office mgr. Here's a little tip. Before a dr appt, calll and ask if the dr is running late or on time.
Last dr appt I had, they called me, the dr had some cancellations, would I like to come early?? It works both ways.

Some reasons:
1) An emergency has come in
2) A patient before you needed more of the doctor's time than
their allotted appointment time
3) The office staff is inefficient
4) The doctor is inefficient
If this happens consistently, ask to speak to the office manager and relate your history of problems.

I am a nurse and my doctor was 2 hours late for my appointment the other day because he was in the cath lab with a patient I sent to the critical care unit earlier that morning having a heart attac. It was an emergency.
I totally understood.
Sometimes it cannot be helped.

totally agree with sometimes it can't be helped. No one is MAKING you stay, that's the other thing. so,, if you got stuff you JUST have to do, leave and reshedule, it might save your b/p! And in the ER the same thing happens, people wait 10 hours to be seen sometimes! If you were critically sick, you'd be in being taken care of, if you're not, and want to wait, then wait, but please keep your complaints where they belong. If you don't want to wait, maybe you don't need to be there

This is not acceptable and if you have waited longer than 15 minutes you need to go up and speak to the receptionist. Also if your doc does not spend enought time with you then you need to speak up about that too.

Ok having a daughter with severe medical issues I have come up with only one conclusion.
Getting paid hunderds of thousands of dollars is not enough for them. They like to play God too. They like to make you wait, its entertaining for them
