Last friday I was admitted to the Hospital thru the ER dept with "chest pains" which nitro and pain meds brought under control my b/p and heart rate were also quite high, I've noticed now even my resting pulse rate is high 90s....at the least. I had a stress/echo which came back abnormal seems I have some scarring of the heart? Long story short the Doc that discharged me said what I had wasn't chest pain, but possibly GERD or heartburn, and did not refer me to a cardio doc? I feel like this doc was way off base.

Opinions?

IF relieved by nitros s/l or isoket infusion will definitely bring down your BP and heart pain, but the question is did they gave you a ACS PROTOCOL? If not they are nuts, did they do ekg, cardiac enzymes, Trop i and Trop t which are mandatory, as you know they are baseline tests.
After echo and stress test are positive, at least now they should refer you to a cardiologist.
Next if it was GERD it would have gone away with an i/v inj. of zantac or any other medications of GERD.
It's high time you go for an angio and any problem should be dealt with on EMERGENCY BASIS.
Change the hospital and consultant if necessary.

Get a second opinion, especially with the abnormal test results. Call your family doctor for a referral to a cardiologist. This is nothing to mess with. I ignored chest pains, thinking they were GERD. They weren't. They were a heart attack. Good luck.

GERD sometimes manifests itself as pain in the chest, but is not an actual diagnosis. I'd get a second opinion.

Get thee to another Dr....ASAP...
With a heart rate so high...and the fact that nitro AND meds brought your symptoms under control...tells me there is something going on there that should be looked at...
IMHO, of course...
