I'm 24 years old and overweight. I've had heart surgery when I was 2 yrs old and, because of it, my exercising ability has always been limited. Since I never have actually worked-out, and I really need to lose weight (it's both a health issue and an esthetical one...) since my bmi is now 38.2, I was wondering whether someone could give me some advice how to start. I want to burn calories, but not strain myself too much.
Also, what kind of diet would be good for me? I was thinking of 5-6 small meals a day (to boost my metabolism), mostly fresh fruit and vegetables, low-fat milk products, fish and poultry, stuff like that.
Any advice would be good. :)

cause I could not see,I had won an answer, and was not given credit for it.Ever since this happened,I have not been notified when I won an answer.I even apologized on same inquiry.I cannot seem to change letters back here because I cannot get this to change back.I feel this is unkind, and unreasonable, why is the staff doing this?I also have not been given proper points. If you would like Doctor and fire dept reports I can send them.I really cannot believe this.

I'd like to know the causes, the symptoms and how long you can live without surgery with this disease.

Suppose a man ran into a doctor’s office and immediately had his blood pressure measured. Would a reading above the normal 120/80 in Torr (or 16/11 in kPa) indicate he is suffering from a high blood pressure? Why?

I've been experiencing pounding and stuttering feelings in my heart for several months, ever since I moved from Canada to Thailand. I believe I've noticed them particularly in the evening after I have had coffee, alcohol or a large meal. I saw a doctor who dismissed this and said they were caused by anxiety. It is true that I get anxious when I'm having them and that makes it much worse, but I've never been so relaxed as I am here.

I believe it must be some difference in the environment here that is causing them, due to the timing of the onset. The spicy food, the humid weather.. maybe the fact that I'm relaxing and excercising more, and eating less meat. It will be another four months before I can return to Canada for a second opinion, and in the meantime these palpitations are making me very uncomfortable.

Has anyone else experienced heart palpitations as a result of moving to a different climate? What have you done to avoid them?

too much circulating adrenaline from too much anxiety and too much of all the above happening too often, etc.

it feels like my heart is just working hard 24/7 like its never in its resting mode..
theres so much adrenaline rushing thru me i feel like im going to explode at times because my heart is working so hard.

is that normal with anxiety a racing heart? i mean like even when i calm down from the anxiety its still beating fast and working hard.

whats up?

i have a high resting heart rate, which i have checked and is between 80 and 100. The thing is i am an athletic male, that weighs around 160 pounds, and has a body fat percentage around 4-8 %. I need to know if i have something wrong with my heart, or if i need to see someone medically trained. I have talked to people about this, and no one is quite sure what it is. the last time i checked my blood pressure it was 120 over 70. I no that a good heart rate should be between 60 and 80, but i am an athlete who is constantly active and in shape. Please help thank you.

my dad had heart attack 6 o'clock today. He lives in another state and as far as i know he's a chief, does excessive amount of beer and smoke. The doctor (through my uncle) said that he lost conscienceness due to heart attack and couldn't receive oxygen to this brain for about 6 minutes. He's in a coma atm.. he opened his eyes but can't recognize anyone. Doctor (through Uncle) said he might become a vegetable if he fails to function normally within 2 - 3 days. is it true? or is this some kind of a sick joke my dad is trying to pull off so he dont have to financially support us for amount of time? it just doesnt feel real at all that he can die within 2 - 3 days

I have never seen this happen before. Usually either both are high or low or normal together, not spaced that far apart. Is this dangerous? Should I take him to the ER?

My dad is 52 years old. He had his first heart attack of 3 - 9 years ago. He is still very active although he has had 2 open heart surgeries (6 bipasses) a diffibrillator (sp?) & has bradycardia. He pumps 19. He asks his doctor all the time what his life expectancy is because of such a low number. His dr replies, "I treat patients... not numbers". I respect that & am grateful for his response. But just the other night I took my dad to the ER because of problems he was having & the ER doctor told him that she gives him less than a year. My dad did ask but she shouldn't have told him that. After all... it was her first time seeing him. Now my dad is depressed more than he was & is worried even more that his time is near. He's always been aware that his life will end sooner than most but now it's more of a reality. I've tried looking on the internet but am not very good at it. Can someone please tell me what the statistics are for someone in my dad's conditition? Thank you!
