Cholesterol is the fat in the bloodstream/vessels. A level above five is considered elevated. CHolesterol is made up HDL (good cholesterol) and LDL (bad cholesterol). Both of these values get added together to form total cholesterol or gross cholesterol.

To reduce cholesterol you should stop frying food, cut out butter ,cheese etc and eat more fresh fruit and veg.

That is the total of your LDL + HDL Low and high density lipoprotien. LDL is sometimes called bad fat and HDL good fat. Ideal is less than 5mmol/l but if you are young and otherwise fit and healthy and of course don't smoke, that level is not too bad.

5.8 is not excessive i was 7.2 at one time before heart surgery but today i am 3.7 and it takes a lot of dedication but you can get it down no fatty food and plenty of fruit and veg and NO cigs so start now and six months you will see a reading close to mine Good Luck

means you need tablets for high cholesterol when you start taking them will go down
