As my father was diagnosed with PC (75 yo, gleason 8, psa 11, stage T2b)I wanted to help him as he doesn't have any access to the Internet. After 2 months of searching I can now say that I'm quite good informed about the disease, the treatments etc. But I still have some critical questions: what is the turning point, after which this "mild" form of cancer turns into an agressive one and kills the patient? Does it happen after it escapes from the gland and causes metastases? Does it always escape from the capsule and treatment(any treatment) tries to keep it there as long as possible? I would very much appreciate if someone could answer these questions.

I know of the side effects but what I don't understand is why all of a sudden my arm (the same spot where I got injected) has started hurting again, after a WHOLE MONTH. I got the shot on Feb 4th. And today I noticed I have tiny red spots on my face/neck. They look like they're under my skin. They're not bumpy feeling. Not itchy either. I feel fine! I planned on asking my doctor. But tomorrow is Sunday and right now it's 1 a.m. So I doubt anyone can help me right now. Just wanted to know anyone's opinion. Thanks.

My dad has been diagnosed with lung cancer. Squamous cell carcinoma Stage IV. The oncologist told us that there is a softball size tumor in his right lung. The cancer has spread to the lymph nodes, his liver, his kidneys, and his lower back. Because of his pain, it could be in the bones as well, but they are not going to check this because the treatment would be the same. With radiation and chemo and if he gave up cigarettes, He has 12-18 months to live. But my dad says he doesnt see the point, and I think he is not going to do treatment or quit smoking. If there is a doctor or an oncologist out there, please tell me what the end result of this will be.

He found out he had a huge tumor in one lung. The docs said they would remove it and he would be cancer free. It did not spread and they removed it with no problem. Now they want him to go through chemo. They say there is no cancer anywhere in his body yet the doc says he would still place bets that my dad will die of lung cancer... Why would he say that? If they removed it and there is no cancer left why would he need chemo and still probably die from it? He never smoked...

I have many tanks and I love my fish... My mother in law has stage 4 cancer and is confined to a full time care facility. I am thinking of getting her a betta to keep her comapny when I can't be there. I get such a kick just watching mine - she has never been a fish person, but loves dogs, cats, birds and all animals. Do you think she would like a fish? I know I would but I'm not sure if she would feel the same... Any thoughts?

come to see me. He called weekly & was genuinely concerned without a doubt but never offered to come visit. He is semi-retired, lives about 50 miles away & had the time but during that time, took 2 trips to AZ & one to Mex. Do I approach the subject with him? He's somewhat self-absorbed but also thinks life should be one big party & maybe didn't want to have what I was going through right there in his face. I don't want this to continue to be something that I feel badly about so don't know the best way to overcome it.

She is a dialysis patient and very dependent on me. My last doctor's visit had my blood pressure very high and plans were to double the dose. I think part of it is looking out for my mom. Anyone else in the situation and how do you handle it. I will not send her to a nursing home because she is otherwise healthy. Just want to know what you do about the daily pressures.

as I have posted earlier my daughter aged 21 is currently awaiting ultrasound scan and fna biopsy on a calcified nodule which has grown from 8mm to aprox 2 cms{palpated by consultant} at the time of the chernobyl disaster she was 8 months old and we lived in an area of britain badly affected by the fallout and spent her early years playing on the beaches and in fields.does anyone know of any statistical evidence that points to a link, I know there are clusters of lukeamias in the area but havn't heard anything about thyroid cancer.I know that the fact that her age. a single calcified nodule which is growing does put her in a higher risk group.I would appreciate any infomation that anyone has.Thank you in anticipation

I was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago when I was 29 years old. I am ER+ and Her2 +. I had bilateral mastectomy, the right side as prevention. My dr wrote to my insurance company asking them to approve the BRCA tests. They turned me down. Twice. I have not had them done myself since they cost about $3000.
I am supposed to have my ovaries out next week, by my own request, but my onc told me this past week that he doesn't agree with my decision. I am currently in a study where my ovaries are shut down each month, for another 2+ years. He is worried about the long term effects of being in menopause at my age. I am worried about ovarian cancer as I am not sure if I have the BRCA mutation or not. If I have it, I have read that there is a 16-60% chance of getting ovarian cancer.
As a side note, I had an ovarian cyst rupture, which in itself is odd since less than 2% of women in menopause have ovarian cysts.

Has anyone else been in this situation? I don't know what to do.

A couple of months ago one of my friends found out she has cancer and the doctors said that there are satellites or something that starts with an "s" growing around the cancer cells. Does anyone have any idea as to what this could be or anything about it?

My dad has been diagnosed with bladder cancer, and is due to have an operation in a couple of days to have most of it removed. He has become very closed off, and doesn't tell me what he's thinking.
1) How do I deal with him, and at the same time cope with the situation myself???
2) Is bladder cancer the real deal, will he die or recover???

My father's mental stage has gotten worse by the day here lately. He is undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatments. He is pushing people out of his life- including me and my 2 year old daughter- the only person he wants is his wife (my mother). He is terrified to be alone- and his mental function is rapidly declining. It seems like all he is focusing on his death. I can't imagine how scared he must be, but I can't just sit back and let him go on like this. I want to help him as much as possible. There are no local support groups here, I would love to start one, but I don't know if I am qualified to do that. I feel like I need to help him with his suffering. If we are going to lose him, I want it to be as peaceful as possible. I want to improve his life while undergoing treatment- help him have some happy times. We don't know many details about how advanced the cancer is- we wont know until he finishes the round of treatments.

I recently had an odd thought, I have ADD and am currently taking medication and am suspicious that may cause transgenderism? I started crossdressing soon after I started taking it, I also have another frined with ADD who is a crossdresser to some extent, however he lives in a primarily female houshold... Is it possible that the meds could cause sich things?
