ok so i have 2 questions on my health.

1. a lot of people from my dad's side has cancer. stomach cancer. 3 family members have died from it so far, so what is my chance of having it because nobody from my mom's side has it that i know of, but a lot from my dad. what is my chance of having it?

2. my dad has five kids and 2 (so far) have diabeteis. (i don't know how 2 spell it.) and they said that either my sister or i am going to get it, because my half brothers both have it and my dad has it and both of my grandma's have it from both sides. but not my mom. every body thinks that i am going to get it because my sister has been really healthy like all her life and i have has a lot of health problems. so if both sides have it, but my sister is way healthier than me, what chances are there that me or my sister could get it? like kind of comparing mine and my sister's chances? please answer :)

I am just wondering what may lie ahead. I'm scheduled for an MRI and a surgical consultation. They say I have two cancer sites and it sounds as if they may do a "lumpectomy." I understand this type of cancer is very common. Any words of wisdom are most welcomed. I have a strong support system, I am very positive at this point.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 23 in 2001, I received a lumpectomy and then chemo and radiation in 2002. Things have been fine since then, I’m in remission. Now I’m pregnant for the first time, I’m 29 years old, and I’d like to breast feed my child but I’m wondering if it is safe to do that after everything my breasts have been through. Does anyone have any experience with this?

http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=CherylShuman90210 Why aren't doctors forced to look for Tumors and Cancers like every 6 months on people ? We can beat most cancers if we detect them early.

I was searching the internet and I came across this article, about how Weizmann Institute scientists discovered genes that can slow cell division and may fight cancer. Check it out. Let me know what you think. Thanks. Here's the link:

My friend's child is starting chemo. There are other children at home.

She does not live near us but we want to help. Do you have ideas of what we can do to help? Hope she will let us pay for house cleaners. We would like to babysit the kids or make meals but we can't.

I will be beginning chemotherapy in a city about 30 miles away next week. I know I need a driver my first time, but will there ever be a time when I can drive myself? (I will be having Herceptin and Navelbine, which are quite mild for side effects like nausea and hair loss.)

I don't know ANYTHING about the actual immediate effects chemo has on people, other than the nausea but surely that doesn't begin within the 1st hour?!

Do I have a window of "wellness" where I can drive home safely after treatment or do I ALWAYS have to have a companion? The ride is about an hour - depending on traffic.

And unless you have had or worked with the drugs I mentioned, you may have out-of date info. Thanks anyway.

My son had cancer and also my mother more recent. Both were treated at Dana Farber/Brigham in Boston. My son was treated almost 10 years ago, my mother over a year. While my mother had her surgery, I was at the hospital for about 19 hours straight. So I wrote something while sitting and evaluating what kind of people do this work. It was hard, but also my passion to be that person to take care of the suffering. I just wonder where I got that ability to deal with such trials.
