My 5 yr old was treated, successfully, for a stage 3 favorable histology Wilms Tumor. If all goes perfectly Wilms is an "easy" cancer to treat. Stage 3 is middle of the road (stage 5 is the worst) and favorable histology means that the cells are not rapidly dividing and appear normal.

So, this is better than most cancers where losing an organ could be fatal. Even if both kidneys have to be removed, a person can still live by using dialysis.
