In general treatment options depend upon the type of cancer, stage, and grade of the disease as well as the patients age and overall health. There are often multi-modalities used to treat cancer. Here are a few:

Chemotherapy - In combinations or single drug. Chemo is delivered systemically to kill off microscopic and small cancer cells, also kills, shrinks, or eliminates cancer tumors.

Radiation - Able to kill or shrink localized tumors as well as microscopic and small cancer cells in focused areas.

Surgery - Removal of tumors.

Cytoreductive Surgery - Removes all visible sign of tumors and any unnecessary organ affected by the cancer.

RadioFrequency Ablation - Tool that pinpoints symetrical tumors and can ablate (destroy) the tumor. Works best on smaller sized tumors.

Hyperthermic Chemoperfusion - Chemotherapy is heated and area affected by cancer is perfused (bathed) for short period of time during surgery.

Clinical Trials - Patients may enroll in available trials from a Phase 1 trial that establishes dosage, tolerance, and effectiveness to a Phase 3 which is well established.

Complementary - Patients may elect to use complementary treatment under the supervision of their oncologist.

Their are other treatments but the above is the most well known.

As a thyroid cancer survivor, i went through the conventional treatment. When everything is done, the doctor said it could come back and this forced me to look somewhere else because after i spent all that money and time they basically tell me that they didn't cure it. I asked them what to do, they are speechless.

I have no choice but to look into alternative medicine and i found out most of the time the body has the capability to fix cancer itself if you fuel them the right food and exercise and there are many other natural ways to cure cancer. I am now cancer free and no longer worry about cancer coming back. Even if it does come back, i know what to do to cure it. Try Vitamin C therapy. A few years ago a cancer researcher came out with a paper saying that the best cancer and infection fighter as yet found was Interferon, but, at the time, it cost $15,000 a gram. The good part was that Interferon was a product of the natural breakdown of Vitamin C in your system. The FDA says that the RDA for Vit C is 64 mg a day, just enough to prevent scurvy. Linus Pauling, who got a Nobel Prize for his work with Vit C and a second Nobel Prize for organic chemistry, said 1000 mg a day as a minimum and 2000 mg a day if you are sick. On a personal note, I was sick twice a year, for 2 weeks at a time, for 20 years, and was flat on my back for at least a week each time. To this day the doctors have no idea what the problem was. After I gave up on the doctors I tried Vit C. I took enough to keep from being sick and just below too much to get diarrhea. It followed a bell curve over 2 weeks with a peak at 40,000 mg a day – about 300,000 over the 2 weeks. I was not sick for those 2 weeks and after a couple of years of that I have not been sick since. I did not dissolve my kidneys, as some doctors said would happen. I did not get any calcium build up or stones and did not dissolve my cones or solidify my joints. Try it, but drink a lot of water – Vit C is a natural diuretic.

Cancer treatment depends on the cancer type, where it began, and whether it's spread (plus general health and personal choices). Often more than one treatment's used.

Options include surgery , immunotherapy, hormone therapy and targeted therapy, as well as: Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy.

David M is right on. I used vitamin C with the traditional cut, burn and poison the first time I had cancer and whipped it.

In 1990, I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma, stage 3-B, but I've survived. My doctors were great people, but they were limited to surgery, chemo and radiation by profitable AMA treatment policy. During the year in treatment, I started learning about alternative medicine. I'm a retired engineer, and this is what I've pieced together--our IMMUNE SYSTEMS become weakened by poor nutrition, lack of exercise and reduced oxygen. Once that happens, our body becomes vulnerable to common STRESSORS. Stressors can be environmental, like viruses, heavy metals, pesticides, food additives, electromagnetic waves or pollution. I know of people whose cancer has 'spontaneously remitted' (WENT AWAY for no known reason) AFTER they went on programs of herbs and nutrition to restart their immune systems.

The American Medical Association (AMA) and the pharmaceutical companies control medical law and the FDA in this country with heavy lobbying and a revolving door policy. WHY would they want to do this? It's about the money. In 2006, medicine (doctors, hospitals, researchers and pharmaceutical firms) received 2.1 TRILLION dollars--15% of the total earnings (GNP 13.7 trillion) in the U.S. This is astounding! It means MILLIONS of people worked the whole year just to pay the nation's medical expenses!! That's totally astounding, and just too big to care about individuals.

sometimes the doctors use surgery to remove the visible area then use radiation therapy on the surgerical area to make sure it is completly removed
