I have a sixteen year old daughter who has needed new glasses every six months for the past four years. She has previously been diagnosed with convergence insufficiency and a Mittendorf dot. She got her first pair of glasses at age nine. Bad vision runs in the family, nine out of 12 of her immediately family members also wear glasses, but none of them have showed the constant, chronic deterioration in vision she is experiencing. Her vision has gone from -1 to -4 diopters over the past four years, which maps to about 20/200. She is severely hearing impaired so crystal clear vision is very important to her to maximize her ability to read lips. Her opthamologist has been useless other than to issue new prescriptions. Yes I know, get another doctor, unfortunately easier said than done given my insurance plan. Any ideas about what might be causing this, when it might stop, or things we can investigate to make it stop?

So- I had sinustitis back in the US when i lived in New Orleans- now I live in Amsterdam, which the two are quite alot alike. I'm sneezing, my eyes are swelling and I can't breath through my nose for anything. Furthure more I haven't slept in over 2 days and I'm exhausted.
I've tried everything from over the counter medicine, to steam which helps momentairily, to menthol steam, to snorting up salt water through my nose and spitting out through my mouth and wearing vick's vapor rub on my nose or breathing in a warm moist rag. I feel Awful and all this blowing my nose is making me nausious. I get one side clear and then the other nostril fills up- I can't sleep because Ihave to breath with my mouth open and then I snore so loud I wake me up- or I choke on the mucas (yeah, I know ewww..)
If anyone has any ideas what so ever I'd be willing to try them- I just want one nights rest. Please...anything

I've had these red dots on my legs since I can remember. They are not raised, itchy or anything like that, just ugly to look at. At first I thought it may be something to do with me shaving my legs, but when I stopped shaving for a couple of months (as I was going to have them waxed) you could still see the red dots. I also don't think they are ingrown hairs either. Any help on what it is and how to treat it would be great. Thanks in advance :)

I have KP and I have noticed that after a couple of years it has gotten worse. It started on just the backs of my arms and now its all around where my bisepts and trisepts are. It has also started to spread onto my sholders, back and forearms. In additon, I have some moderate skin discoloration, is this really KP? If not do you have any ideas of what it is and how to get rid of it?

my mouth is starting to feel 'dull'. It's as if I have no real taste anymore. Also, I'm getting small sores like crazy wherever I scratch. Finally, I have an AWFUL rash on my neck that I think was caused by a reaction to a necklace I got as a gift the day before I started the chemo and wore. Even though I've never been allergic to any metal, this made my neck red and itchy and now it's a mess. A huge rash.

All that being said, what are the top three foods I should be eating during chemo to keep my skin healthy and my energy up? If you have any advice on the rash or sores, I'd to hear about that as well.

Thanks!

Also, I'm on day 10 since my last (and first) treatment and I am on an AC therapy of chemo. When will my hair start falling out and how long will it take for it all fall out? (I know this is different for different people, but I'm just curious to other peoples thoughts)

My 8 year old is allergic to penicillin, 12 days ago he was diagnosed with a pneumonia and given Omnicef. He did fine on the medication until after he was done taking the 10 day prescription. On day 11 he woke up with spots that soon would cover his whole body with welts or hives. I immediately took him to the doctor because I knew from the previous experience with penicillin what was going on and didn't want him to land in the hospital with an IV again. She prescribed steriods and antihistimines orally. The welts subsided for the afternoon, only to reappear today. He is still on the steriods. I was wondering how long we can expect to wait before the steriods actually start working, and the Omnicef will be out of his system? Anyone know?

My blood pressure is about 155/78 sometimes higher sometimes lower and I am only 24. I work out 4 days a week cardio and weight lift. I try to watch what I eat and usually eat somewhat healthy even though I drink alot of caffeine. Is this a serious health risk even though I work out as much as I do? Am I at risk of getting a heart attack later on in life if this continues? Somebody with medical experience please help!

My daughter is 4 yrs old and of normal weight. I am worried about Type 1 diabetes. We have done many tests and seen many doctors. Noone is quite sure what is going on with her. She currently is not overly thirsty or peeing alot, but is this way occassionally. We have seen 14 blood sugar readings over 200 in the last 6 months. They are not fasting numbers, but postprandial (after meals). Sometimes they are 1 hr. after a meal or sometimes 2. They do always come back down to normal eventually.

Should I be concerned about these numbers? Does the fact that she has no other symptoms right now mean that this is just how her body is? She spikes a high bg after eating, but then insulin kicks in and she is OK? Is that normal or do you think it is a sign of impending Type 1 Diabetes? Thanks.

On June 9th the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (www.afsp.org) is having a 20 mile out of the darkness walk from 8pm to 5am through Manhattan to benefit suicide prevention in America. I am participating in this walk because I feel this is a good way to help those who have lost all hope and have no where else to turn. Each participant in the overnight walk (www.theovernight.org) pledges to raise a minimum of $1,000 which the money goes to raising awareness and support for suicides and to help families of those who have been left behind. If you feel that you are interseted in supporting the AFSP and all people that they help then I ask that you follow this link to my participant homepage (http://www.theovernight.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=extranet.personalpage&confirmid=10008660) and sponsor me in this walk. All donations go directly to the AFSP and all donations are tax decuctible. Please check out the web site for more information on this beneift. Thank you for your help!
