I've had these red dots on my legs since I can remember. They are not raised, itchy or anything like that, just ugly to look at. At first I thought it may be something to do with me shaving my legs, but when I stopped shaving for a couple of months (as I was going to have them waxed) you could still see the red dots. I also don't think they are ingrown hairs either. Any help on what it is and how to treat it would be great. Thanks in advance :)

sounds like a condition called rhinosirous skin to me. Which is caused by poor blood supply to the epidermis. Get yourself a loofah and gently rub it on the skin in a circular motion. I have this condition but the loofah has made it almost disappear.

It sounds like it could be an allergy but I don't think it is a contact allergy. If your really concerned you should make an appointment with an allergist and there are many different tests that can be done to help pinpoint the source. Most contact allergies cause red scaly and/or raised skin after coming in contact with a chemical of some sort. Your description sounds like it is internal and the reason it is only on your legs could be attributed to the fact that the skin on legs is thinner and contains less melanin than skin on other parts. The lack of melanin causes your legs to be paler than other parts of the body which is why the red dots are more visible. Allergists are wonderful, having gone through testing myself recently, I can say that it is a science that is developing rapidly and the tests are not as bad as they used to be. Good luck.

I have those too! I had some biopsies and it came back as some form of dermatitis. There's never been anything they could give me that clears them up. I too, have no pain, itchyness, or any problems. I use self tanning lotion on my legs every summer, and I noticed a few years ago, these bumps go away after I use that a week or so. Give it a try, it might do the same for you. Your the first person I have ever heard of having them.
There just great huh! Guess it could be worse. Good luck I sure hope the tanning lotion helps you too.

If these are the size of a pin prick, it could be a condition known as Petechiae. This is a small bleed under the skin. It can be large like a bruise, but I get the tiny ones. I do not have a photo, and the ones I have found on line are difficult to see.

these may be the long term effect of your shaving... these may be allergies or measles. but since they're not itchy, i don't think it's an allergy.. did you try putting cortisone or any anti-allergy creams? these may help too.. if these don't help, then you should go see a doctor.. or try drinking celestamine, aerius, verlix,, or any anti-histamine once a day for three days then if these don't work,, you should go see a doctor.. tell me if these work or not.. i might be of help.

I have them too, but i found out its some food allergy, but its allmost impossible to detect what foods cause them, cause i have them on my upper arms, but I've found if I use really gentle soap, it helps reduce the redness, and makes the bumps smaller, also use some gentle moisturizing lotion after you get out of the tub/shower, i recomend Dove or olay soap, and for the lotion I love Olay quench.
