I'm not sure what squash is . But thirst is just your body's way of letting you know you're not getting enough water. However in some cases it is linked to diabetes. If you're really concerned check with your doctor and have lab work done or you could buy a glucometer (used to check your blood glucose levels). They're sold at drug stores and most stores that have pharmacies like Wal-mart. The normal range is 70-110. I would check different times of the day, before and after meals and if the levels are much higher or lower than range make an appointment. Also note that severe stress, pain and fear cause levels to be higher than normal.

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

It could be diabetes, or you might just be thirsty! There's a v quick test n you get your results in less than 30 seconds! Lots of pharmacys offer them now for free (eg. lloyds pharmacy) or go to your gp and ask for a test - it's a little finerprick blood test, nothing to worry about, I have type 1 diabetes so do around 10 a day, and I know a 5 year old who does them herself! good luck - hope it's not diabetes xxx

The 'classic' description of the symptoms of diabetes is polydipsia (excessive thirst), polyuria (excessive urination), and polyphagia (excessive appetite). Most diabetics however do not present with these symptoms. 7 pints of fluid intake is approximately 3360 ml daily. An adult requires about 1500 ml per meter squared of body surface area - although the need increases with aerobic exertion and illness. Someone who is 5'10" and 180 pounds has a body surface area of 2.00 meters squared and a daily fluid need of 3000 ml daily. Your fluid intake is about 10% above this. Thus - your total daily fluid intake does not sound extreme and would certainly not imply diabetes. Although your fluid intake may be appropriate you state that you are 'thirsty all the time'. It is important to distinguish between begin 'thirsty' and being 'dry'. Depending upon your age, level of physical activity, and any medications that you are taking being dry may be more likely than being thirsty. Nonetheless - even if you are thirsty given that your fluid intake sounds about right this is not likely to be a medical problem. Still - if you provide me with more information I will provide more detailed education and advice. johnerussomd@jhu.edu

Thirst is one of the symptoms of diabetes but on it's own does not mean you have it. Get your blood sugar level checked by the nurse at your doctors. This will indicate whether you might possibly have diabetes. It would probably be best to see your doctor as he will know other reasons for excessive thirst and can have them checked out.

Thirst can be sign that you're diabetic. Does your mouth feel very dry? Are you feeling very tired? Are your eyes a bit blurry when you try to read? These are also signs. Your best bet is to go to the doctors, but you could also go in to boots and buy a diabetes testing kit, just to be sure x

whilst it is a symptom of diabetes...it could also be that the food you are eating is crammed full of salt & additives...this will cause terrific thirst - but its worth getting checked by your doctor just to be on the safe side.

are you an active person? that can affect how much you need to drink.

but if you are drinking that much without being too active and still feeling thirsty then it is a possibility, the best thing is to go see your doctor.
