Do you think the government should compensate living donors for their time off work and the expenses they incur donating a kidney? The way it is now the donor is not reimbursed for their wages or traveling to donate unless the recipients family can afford to pay. My daughter is waiting to get a deceased or living kidney. Her story here --> http://www.xanga.com/i_korn.

the swellings appear almost in an instant and take between 6-8 hours to disappear again, my hands also get really hot and itchy when they swell, ive considered that it might be an allergic reaction which would be the obvious answer but i haven't changed anything in my diet or washing powder or anything like that....... genuine answers only please

I had Atrial fibrillation in January 2006. I have been doing OK since then. I was prescribed 50 mg of Atelonol, but have been taking only half of the dosage during the last two months. I finally got my heart tests results yesterday (8/2/2006) and the stress test was negative as well as the X-rays. The doctor said, “You didn’t have irregular heartbeat and no anomalies were found. The nuclear test was also good.” I was so happy! Then he checked the Echo and said, “You have an enlarged left atrium.” Now I am so scared that I can drop dead at any time. I feel energetic, my cholesterol is good, and I have no hypertension. Nobody has had heart attacks in my family and I am (female) in my30's.

I had a grade 3 astrocytoma brain tumor and underwent a seven hour craniotomy with motor mapping at UCSF. I had external beam radiation and six rounds of BCNU chemotherapy treatments, via an IV. Rounds1-3 were not that bad. Rounds 4-6 were horrible. I puked, dry heaved nothing but spit and air, slept a lot, ate nothing that i could keep in my stomach for more than an hour or so. Even when i drank water after an infusion, I would puke it up. My teeth looked like hell and i got sores on the edges and insides of my mouth.

But I survived it and am six years cancer free.

I have tried midrin, imitrex, vicoden, zomig, maxalt, beta blockers, lexapro(antidepressant) and herbal therapy, for my migraines. Triptans work about 80% of the time, vicoden takes teh pain away for about 3 hours and the rest I get about a 20% success rate with. I have heard topamax usually works but with harsh side effects. I want to try it out because I can't take this migrain pain away. I want to see how bad I get the side effects so I can make my own decision. Is it hard to get a doctor to prescribe it? It is also marketed as a migraine med. I have done the research and know what to expect. I am getting excited thinking of releife and the possible weightloss. I hope I can deal with the memory & tinglies..... This would be a life changing event I have an appointment tomorrow to discuss this.

...we were fostering a cat, and some of my family members started getting hives. Will the hives remain treated if continually taking an antihistamine (while the cat is still here) or will they eventually be able to stop taking the antihistamine?

I have lupus SLE (in remission) I also have fibromyalgia. the palm of my hands keep changing colour sometimes they are from purple, white, pink, crimson or bright red.I,m not saying they keep flashing like neon signs but now and then when I look at them they could be one of these colours. could this be a symptom of lupus or , fibromyalgia or could this be another disease that is realated to lupus or fibromyalgia or something compleatly different all together do you have this or know somebody that may have this. it don't matter if its summer or winter so its not from the cold.
