I have poison ivy, too. I'm using buji wash and it has helped so much. "büji™ Wash is a gentle, exfoliating cleanser designed to remove urushiol, the toxic oil and source of allergic reactions from poison ivy, oak, sumac and related plants. By removing urushiol, itching is quickly relieved and redness and inflammation are reduced."

You scrub the affected areas with the wash for up to 2 minutes, then wash it off. The itching will be gone and it will start to dry up. This stuff is great!

If it's severe, hands down: a medrol dose pack (steroids gradually increased and then decreased). That actually will stop the inflammation of the skin and dry the sores. It has to be prescribed by a physician, however.

To not get it. If you know you've touched some, get to a shower immediately. Use cool water and soap, not hot water which opens up your pores.

If you've waited an hour, you've waited too long and you'll have to ride it out.
