I'd like to make my own pan pipes and some of the round pipes (flutes? recorders?) that are sold in "from third world crafts" types of shops? I'd like to use plastic materials, though.

In the coupon catalog I received today, there was an offer of 3 historical stamps for free. Since this sounds a bit too good, will there be any consequences if I order them (i.e., soliciting, etc.)? There was also another offer of 500 international stamps for two dollars.

I need to know how to keep my candle from going soft and melting all at once when it is lit. The candles I make turn out nice but once lit they burn fast and melt quickly, not slow like store bought.

I'm a sewing novice. I've got a sewing machine that I've used to make 1 quilt, 1 blanket, 1 dress and 2 Christmas stockings. So I'm very novice. My mother works estate sales so she's always on the lookout for me, to get sewing stuff and has come across a few Serger machines. So, what's the benefit of these things and what's the difference?

How can I tie off a quilt top as opposed to having it stitched? I'm trying to tie a quilt top for my first grandchild (a boy!!!) and all I keep coming up with are what could become uncomfortable knots. Any immediate information on this would be greatly appreciated as "Allen" is due in mid-March.
