I've just discovered the magic of warm Hide Glue and it's wonderful ability to stiffen thin white Japanese paper. The only problem is that it is brownish yellow in color. I have successfully found additives that will lighten it to an oatmeal color but that's about it. I have tried white pigments, plaster of paris, soda, allum, arrow root, and peroxide but those weaken the glue or make my thin paper look opaque and plastic. I want to retain the natural feel and look of the paper. Does anyone know if Hide Glue comes in white? I thank you in advance for your input.

I have a sewing machine and it has to places where the thread goes. One at the botton underneath the needle and one on tiop of the machine. Do I thread both peices of thread into the needle whole? Also, I don't know how to lift the thing that 's underneath the needle, the place where the cloth would be.

I'm looking for a film to be used to create a makeshift filter over a flashlight. My first thought is basket-wrap cellophane, which I know comes in colors, but it also comes in a much larger quantity than I need. I would only need a few square inches per project. It could be a bit thicker, for example, the consistency of overhead projector transparencies, as long as it cuts fairly easily. Does anyone know of a source for something along this line? It seems like it should be used in some sort of occupation...

I saw a quilt and I want to know if anyone knows how to make it. It was just squares put together. The back of it was the seams ruffled. I believe they sewed each square together with the batting and back, then put them all together with the seams sticking out the back of the quilt about 3/4 inch. They then cut the hang over part so when you washed the quilt the edges frayed a bit. It was real pretty but I am not quite sure how to do it. If anyone knows I would really appreciate some insite.

I have a coin in original government packaging, It came from the mint in a sealed plastic ( or is it acryic) case. I want to know if anyone knows if it's sealed airtight or would I have to be concerned about it oxydizing or tarnishing over time. I don't want this coin to get ruined, but taking out the the original and sending it in to get graded, I fear that it would take away any value of the coin later on...I am new at coin collecting and would appreciate any information that can be provided...I would really like to know more about coins. Thank you.

Is there anything that I can use to pick up pennies magnetically? (recent ones, not the real old pure copper ones)

Is there a type of magnet that I could buy/find/make? Could I buy or build an electromagnet?
