I need some recommendations on what a good beginner's sewing machine would be. I don't want one of those crappy $19.99 things you see on tv. I want one that can be used to actually MAKE clothes. I have about $30-50 to spend on a machine. Where could I get a good one for this price?

I'm an amateur coin collector, and I can't figure out where one of my coins is from. It's a dark brown, about the size of a US nickle but not as thick. On one side in the center is a large number 10 below which is the word pfenning; there are 5 point stars on each side just above this word. On the top rim of the coin it appears to say kriesgeld 1918.
On the reverse at top is the word Coblenz directly above what appears to be a shield/coat of arms which is in the center of the coin. There is quite a bit of writing around the rim, but it's worn and I can't make it out, except to say it appears to be German(but I could be wrong about the language).
Anyway, any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Short of giving it a massage, how does one adjust the tension on a 1990's electric Singer sewing machine? I'm watching one on eBay; I'm just interested to know whether the problem is easily remedied or whether I'll have to have it professionally repaired.
