is there a website that has free, cool and easy to follow designs for knitting? when i say designs/stitches i dont mean like how to make a sweater or stuff but like the "herring stitch" or "honeycomb" or "cables" or different stitches you could put in a scarf or something. thanks

yes thats a stitch dictionary, and you can use just about any pattern to and use it for anything.

the way that i started out was that a T.V show called Knitty Gritty inspired me to knit, so i went to walmart and bought the size 5 needles (which were later destroyed) and yarn. start with a small but simple projects. a great way to practice would be to make a thin scarf and then move up from there once you mastered the knit and purl stitch. being able to know about gauge helps a ton so that a project comes out at a certain size. remember keep practicing and you master it in no time at all.
