i went to paris summer of 2005---i went a café at midnight for dessert right after dinner (hahaha--i love eating late) and i saw this dessert, and ordered it--a large glass and they fit this HUGE orange resting on top of the glass and the orange was hollowed out and orange sobert was put in-----so good, very refreshing. also, they cut the orange so it was just a little opening on the top and u could put the top back on. i saw these made by a company, smaller, but the same, at trader joe's called

orange givrées

and was wondering if the name for this dessert is that, or thats the name of the company?????

however, there was a coconut one too, called "noix de coco givrées" so, is givree the general term??

if not, what is the term for this dessert??

please help, thx

I've heard that it's better to leave the skin of carrots on because it's the most nutritious part. I'm looking for an actual article that show this to be true or not.

Okay, I know this sounds stupid, but I went to the store to by some Welchs Grape Jelly(I thought?), usually my wife by all that stuff, but we were out and I didn't want Knotts red raspberry preserves (usually a good choice). Anyway in the grape section there are choices from jelly to jam to preserves and I have no clue about the differences between them. I felt stupid because I can tell you the differences between a 2000 Barolo and a Barbaresco, both made from the same grape, but not a thing about a PB&J. Help?

When I was a kid, all the large salt shaker refills, had both the current metal spout for pouring, and a plastic shaker spout. This way the salt shaker refill container, could also be used as a salt shaker. It has been at least 2 decades since I have seen the plastic shaker spout on any of these refill containers. Does anybody know why they were removed?

You know what I mean. At a restaurant or when you buy ice it is very clear and has no taste and I just like it better (especially in a nice mixed drink), but the refrigerator freezer always makes that white, cloudy ice and its just not as satisfying. Is this a water quality issue, or could a home icemaker make this ice?
