Have never found any Chinese Restaurant Recipes that really taste like the ones we eat in the restaurants. Has anyone copied any of the regulars, I.E. Garlic chicken, Mongolian beef, etc.? The texture of the beef in Chinese restaurant meals is different as well. What cut of "beef" are they normally using? I have heard flank.

When I was in the Army, we used to eat at a Gasthaus in Grafenwhor called Mom's(I think) that served a chilled vegetable salad before the meal. It had julienned carrots, a white vegetable, similar in texture to carrot, julienned (this could have been parsnip?). Also had tomatoes chopped big. The liquid in the salad was seasoned, and a little sweet. I am hoping someone can tell me for sure what the vegetable marinade/salad dressing could be, and what the white vegetable was for sure. Also, feel free to email any german cold salad recipes. Thanks!

In some restaurants when you order a Thai red-curry dish. They sweeten it with coconut milk but other than that I have no idea how to make the sauce. Or the dish. But the sauce was unbelievable.
What is the best way to make this dish and the sauce.

has anyone ever had bubble tea? or even heard of it? I think it's a chinese tea. I had it once. It looked really cool...ill explain. it's not a hot beverage, it's cold, and it has little tapioca balls in it...it looks really cool if you stir it and then they all float round and stuff. :) if the stuff tasted amazing, it would be my favorite drink ever...oh, yeah and im scared of the tapioca balls..i had green apple tea i think...i thought it was nasty...i could handle a few sips...but thats all....but anyways. Have any of you ever had bubble tea? what did you think of it? what flavor did you have or would reccomend?

I tried for the first time tonight to cook the fruit of my prickly pear cactus. They were red when I collected them and I used my blowtorch to burn off the spines. I checked q and a and boiled them for 30 minutes in really salty water and then rinsed. They were full of seeds and REALLY slimy. I added some cilantro to them, seeded them, rinsed them and boiled a little while longer. Still slimy. I added a little vinegar and soaked them an hour. Then rinsed.
