As governments are happy to take our freedoms away from us why not do likewise for any retailer whose product ends up becoming a nuisance i.e. littering.

If McDonalds want to continue to peddle it's wares it should be made to be responsible for the people who buy them and dump the rubbish. Why not give them the option, employ people to collect rubbish that originated in McDonalds or pay a fine for every piece the local councils collect?
If their customers don't care about the rubbish they create, let the cost of collecting it be paid by McDonalds and passed back to the customer. If it becomes too expensive for McDonalds to operate, I for one won't shed a tear at their passing.

Alternatively, don't provide any packaging make McDonalds eat-in only and the people dropping litter won't have anything to drop.

I know I'm picking on McDonalds here but I'd be the same for all establishments whose wrapping becomes a nuisance, if shops sell sweets and schoolkids drop the wrappers - either pay for them to be cleaned up or stop selling them. I don't drop litter anywhere, so why should I have to put up with it in my street?

There are people out there everywhere who litter and don't care about the environment. Just go check out other fast food restaurants. Or for that matter go check out a chemical plant and see some of the shady things they do. It comes down to this either you are for the environment or you are not and sadly it seems more and more like there are more against the environment that we live in.

You noticed that too? I think it's a conspiracy. The government puts something in McDonald's food that causes them to litter. Then the government can hire these same morons, at min. wage, to pick up the trash. So then, the government can say it's creating jobs and keeping the environment clean.

It is only customary for people who think they are too good to have to get up and throw their litter in a garbage can. They come in all shapes, sizes, and income brackets. Not only McDonalds but ALL litter. They need to have to get off their @ss's and place their garbage where it needs to go.

I know exactly what you mean! It sucks. I guess the mentality that says "I don't care what I put in my body" also says "I don't care about my world". Oh, and then there's kids - young teens eat McDonalds, and they are still silly enough to think gestures like "I don't care if I litter" are cool.

I know how you feel. For Ex: I am outside sweeping up the parking lot, customer pulls up says hi goes into store. On there way back out to their car trash starts flying. Depending on my mood i'll either politely point out that they dropped something, or else i have been known to say hey you see me sweeping, did your momma raise you in a barn

Yup. I'm not a scumbag, but I did sign a contract. I like to throw my garbage (and not just McDonald's mind you) into hedges, lakes, rivers and streams. Wherever I think it will do the most glaringly ugly damage.

The contract, incidentally, is the same one that says:

1. it's OK to throw your cigarette out the window of your car while you're driving.

2. it's OK to Cut people off on the way to the red light only to slow down in front of them.

3. It's OK to say an entire group of people look a like and act alike just because they live somewhere or go to a certain restaurant.

I think you have to be a scumbag in order to want to eat a McDonalds, I think it's a prerequisite. They put junk in their bodies, so why not throw junk everywhere else too?

I saw on TV, that the rubbish left by fast food chains are creating a breed of super rats that are bigger and live longer. Which I find strange because if we eat it, we die younger!? Paradox
