Does anyone know how to make a sweet and sour sauce or just a good dipping sauce for lumpia? I've heard that you combine mustard with something, but i dont remember the recipe. Any help is greatly appreciated.

my family always every once in a while has an ethnic night where we cook ethnic foods and just have a ball trying new things... I have cooked wonderful egyptian foods, greek foods(a cousin is married to a greek man, learned a few cooking tips from him) italian foods, australian foods, and Morrocan foods... now I want to have a peruvian food night.

We had the great luck to be invited to a seafood meal with fisherfolk. They didn't bother with silver hammers etc - but it was so much better than crabmeat. They obligingly halved the lobsters for us. Delicious! And maybe they also obliged by taking the more shielded parts aside for themselves : )

My question is - if we'd had a lobster in a restaurant, is there a technique? Are there recognised non-edible parts? Should anyone only politely break into the main shell? Is it considered wrong to ask for fingerbowls? We made do with slices of lemon. I'm asking because I'm thinking that it would be a better dish than boring old turkey. At Xmas. Would really appreciate any tips! Thanks in advance.

I want to make something I had in Japanese class years ago. This is what I remember, you make it from powered rice. It is made into balls and put in a wok. When it floats, it's done. My teacher served it in soy sauce and sugar. I remember it was really gooey. Any ideas?

It happened to me when I had curry goat. It was sooo good. But a few days later my deodorant didn't work (and perfume). And I was told that lamb does the same thing but why?

I just got a recipe for potato kugel that I want to make for my family, and I'd rather not use the chicken fat, but I don't want to lose the flavor. If anyone knows something that I could use that would taste just as good, that would be great. Keeping kosher is not an issue for us, and in the recipe the fat (1/3 cup) is just used for greasing the pan, if that helps. Thanks!

I am a very picky eater. When I go to certain people's homes for dinner, there is always someone who insists of dishing out the food. I prefer to take my own servings of what I like and how much I want to take. Some people just start shovelling something from each dish onto my plate and I politely say "no thank you" and then they say "why not?" I say "I don't like this or that" and then they say "try some anyway." After they have piled up stuff on my plate that I don't eat, I just leave the food there (what a waste). Then someone always asks "why didn't you eat such-and-such" and I say "because I don't like it." I started to tell one person I'm allergic to certain foods and they totally ignored me and put some of it on my plate anyway. Why can't people listen?

I want to know what Indian food German people like the most. Do they like the way meat and vegetables are cooked (having lot of spices and curry)?
How would they eat these dishes? Just like the Indians, with bread or eat it with a spoon. Would they prefer Indian style meat or vegetable? Also please guide, what kind of Indian sweet dish do they like the most?
Thanks in advance,
Saad
