I'm a guy and my friend is having her birthday tonight at a club in Hollywood. Her two friends are also celebrating their birthdays and I'd like to buy them a gift that they'd like.

Since it's at a club, it's got to be small so they're not stuck carrying something around all night.

I don't really know the other two girls, but I'd like to do something nice for all three of them.

Nothing crazy, but I don't want to show up to a birthday party without a gift.

Any ideas on what to get? They're all in their early twenties.

Thanks!

Anybody have some good ideas for my sweet sixteen in a few months? Like ways to save on costs, make it a bit more creative than they usually are. I don't want it to be your typical "oh-my-god i wanna be a diva" sweet sixteen, just fun for everyone. I want to rent a place and invite a bunch of people, but other than that any ideas/suggestions/past experiences? Thanks people.

My husband and I just transferred to Japan and are moving into our rental house soon. We're hosting a housewarming party to meet the guys from his office and so I can meet all the wives. The only parties I've ever hosted were just a "let's get drunk" party and a baby shower, so I'm really confused what to do here. Do I provide activities of any sort? Since it's just a rental with little furniture, should I still give tours or just leave them free to wander? And how do I cope with only having one toilet and a whole bunch of Marines and their wives?

I am having a party and I have said I will cook a meal for everyone - 14 people in all! Has anyone any ideas what I can serve which will be fairly easy and mean I don't spend all day/evening in the kitchen? I have vegetarians and meat eaters so I would want something I can do with meat or veggie food. I thought chilli (one meat, one veggie) but a couple of people don't like it - so any other suggestions? Many thanks!

My son will be turning 16 and I would like to have him a party but can't really come up with a theme that at 16 year old boy will enjoy. Party needs to be somewhat economical because I will also have a HS Senior

For now, i have pool part where we swim for couple of hours then go in our party room and eat cake open presents and watch a movie or two. We also have a billiards room so we can do that too but i need more ideas like fun stuff!

Having a '80s kids' themed kids party, what did we used eat, while playing pass the parcel, and musical chairs.
I remeber Jam sandwichs, little sauages, and the obvious jelly and ice cream......anything else?

Broiled serloin with alfredo with portobella mushrooms, steamed green beans with red onions, italian style salad (think olive garden type) and for desert mini fresh strawberry-pies, with a bit of whipped cream out of pan with chocolate sauce on the bottom of the plate for looks.

Now I calculated dinner (since Im using low fat and sugar free) around 700 calories per dinner.

Does this sound good?

OK I am going to a baby shower for a girl at my work. I work at a Restaurant, and we are just all meeting there. The problem is, I work all day Sunday and probably won't have time to go home before the shower - - I may still be working when we have the shower! But I need some ideas for some quick and easy food that I can either make the night before, or maybe on my 30 min. break I get between shifts. I want something cute too, and unique -- I love to cook! I thought about maybe a chili or something, but I don't think I will have the time for all of that, and I think it's too much prep the night before! HELP! It's Sunday!!

I usually have an annual Kentucky Derby party for about 50-60 people. This year it just happens that Cinco de Mayo falls on the same Saturday and I thought it would be fun to combine the 2!

Does anybody have any clever suggestions for food, drinks or decoration etc.? I think we're going to roast a pig, but other than that I'm not sure what else to serve.

In past years we've had contests for the best hat - perhaps this year I switch this to best "sombrero" hehe. Any ideas would be appreciated.
