My son will be turning 16 and I would like to have him a party but can't really come up with a theme that at 16 year old boy will enjoy. Party needs to be somewhat economical because I will also have a HS Senior

Maybe he and I are different, but at 16 I didn't want my parents to throw me parties. Here are my suggestions:

- take him to a professional game (bball, hockey, etc) in your area, if you can bring one or a couple of his friends

- if there's a Dave & Busters in your area, take him and a couple of his friends to eat and play there (it's a restaurant w/an arcade)

Hmm.. I didn't ever go to a party for someone turning 16 when I was that age. Nor did I have a party either. My parents would give me money to take the car out. Me and my friends would drive around the city since we finally had our licenses. We'd go out to eat, go to the movies, or the mall. It was just the excitement of having the license and not having to have our parents drive us anymore.
My parents would take me and my siblings out to dinner at our favorite restaurant. We would go to a place that we normally don't go to because it's expensive. Like a Japanese restaurant where they cook in front of you.
If you do the party.. I would say take him with you to whatever party store you go to and he can pick out the items he'd like there. Maybe a Hawaiian theme or BBQ (if it's not too cold where you live).

If he's into football or race cars you can have his fave team's color and/or banner. You can have games like flag football or shoot some baskets or dart, etc. Have some "prizes" like a gift certificate to a movie or burger place or a football. A pizza party is always economical - fills up the guys all the time. It goes well with rootbeer, cheese bread and maybe some hot/barbeque wings. Don't forget the chips and salsa and cake, of course!

Turning 16 - he may not want a party with his friends. But instead offer to take him out to dinner at his favorite place then give him a cash gift so that he can go out with his friends to the mall or movies.
