I am interested in making beer at home. I prefer dark (guiness, black and tan) beers. Does anyone know of a good beginners kit I can purchase for this?

On holiday this year we had a beautiful wine. It was a South African cabernet sauvignon shiraz and was called Ashford hills or something like that. I would love to be able to buy some but cannot find it anywhere. I'd love to get some for Christmas day.

Also, could Mike's Hard Lemonade and Smirnoff cause people who drink it to gain weight in their stomach? I don't like beer that much b/c I don't want to gain, but I love the taste of these drinks and am wondering if they could do the same thing to someone's physique that beer can do?

Very deep ruby colour. A profound nose of black fruits, quite masculine with hints of black truffle. Turning mocha with aeration. Very complex. The palate is perfect. Incredible concentration and balance. Perfect acidity. Dense black fruits laced with black pepper. Less showy than the 2000, this is a more intellectual wine. Backward, broody with the length of a Lord of the Rings trilogy. An truly immense wine that will become a benchmark Petrus.

My husband considers himself a wine expert. He says that butter or chocolate is added to wine to give a "buttery" or Chocolately taste. I feel this doesn't sound right - I don't like to think of my white wine having butter added to it!
I used to make home brew wine, and I never added anything like that; the flavours just used to develop.
I thought that the terms "buttery" "chocolatey" or vanilla or apple or pear undertastes was somehting that just occured as the wine matured?

I've heard yes and no to this question so if you could site your sources please. I've seen several on-line sites claiming to be able to and that there is only a law to keep it from being sold in stores in the us.
