I am going to try some recipes out to see if I want to undertake making my own wedding cake.

I would like a recipe for chocolate cake, white cake, and maybe 1 other kind.

If possible a recipe for fillings too- something berry, something chocolate- like a mousse or whipped layer, vanilla creme

Will need to serve 120-150 guests. I'd like to layer it and poss use fondant to cover it.

Mom used to make "refrigerator pie" with jello and egg yolks for one layer and and graham crackers. I don't have a clue what else was used, but it was so good! Does anyone have a recipe that is close to this??

Some friends brought back a packet of Zatarains Dirty Rice from the US. It tastes amazing but is almost impossible to buy in the UK - unless you deal with specialist importers who charge a fortune - £3.50 / $7 per packet is just silly.

If anyone has a recipe which get's close to the original flavour, I would really like to see it please, I have tried a couple on the net and they are "ok" but nothing like the real product.

Here's hoping :)

Many thanks.
Mark

i understand that having a wider bowl will cool a hot liquid faster what with the larger surface area. but we all know we don't have that privilege esp. when we are outside.

so my question is will stirring a soup for example cool it off faster? is there any empirical evidence to back up a claim?

Hi Folks,

By which I mean the odd cross between a goat and a sheep.

Or are they "geeps" ?

A lump of this cross-breed on a BBQ is fine.

I used to live for many a year in the Mid-East, and asked in my shoddy Arabic what it was.

It transpired that someone introduced sheep many years ago, which cross-bred with the local goats.

The sheep mainly perished due to over-heating, but the shoats and geeps carried on.

Marvellous stuff if you like your meat, but I'm jiggered if I can find it in the UK.

Any notions ?

Bob

OK I'm making homemade pizza for my GF next weekend and I want a great wine to go with it. I'm not a wine hobbyist (as you can tell) I want something that will be good, but not break the bank because I'm a poor college student. I read somewhere that a Joel Gott 2005 Zinfandel would be good, but I'm not here I can it here in Nebraska. Any suggestion would be most appreciated.
