school dinners have been high profile news for being of bad quality and low value of goodness. whats gone wrong? whos to blame? mothers who cant cook? women who go to work and neglect their childrens welfare as going to work is now of extreme importance to the families income. can we really expect kids to switch to healthy and boring foods in their opinion?? do they really want pitta bread, nuts, fruit, so called health bars, and other dodgy healthy living products? who wins? shops selling rubbish food portrayed as healthy living! why cant cookery be brought back and teach kids how to cook properly? I did cookery at school and I loved it. life lessons are more important than fake dodgy tests and worthless exams. mothers teach yourself to cook and then teach your kids. get them involved. what will they pass on, nothing. the end.

OK, I'm a kitchen idiot, trying to teach myself to cook. Beef stew recipe calls for 2 cups of the stuff but I scoured every aisle of grocery store & had know idea what I was looking for? Does it come in a box? A can? Is it dry? Wet? I know barley is a grain, but I don't know what form it comes in after it's processed.

Hi I got fettucini that I ate at the restaurant and took home. Now I tried to reheat it in microwave but it just evaporated the liquid. I think I need to reheat in an oven or on a double broiler maybe? tell me EXACTLY how to reheat my LEFTOVER fettucini. Best answer wins 10 points :-)

John was sitting outside his local pub one day, enjoying a quiet pint and generally feeling good about himself, when a nun suddenly appears at his table and starts decrying the evils of drink.

"You should be ashamed of yourself young man! Drinking is a Sin! Alcohol is the blood of the devil!"

Now John gets pretty annoyed about this, and goes on the offensive.

"How do you know this, Sister?"

"My Mother Superior told me so."

"But have you ever had a drink yourself? How can you be sure that what you are saying is right?"

"Don't be ridiculous--of course I have never taken alcohol myself"

"Then let me buy you a drink - if you still believe afterwards that it is evil I will give up drink for life"

"How could I, a Nun, sit outside this public house drinking?!"

"I'll get the barman to put it in a teacup for you, then no one will ever know."

The Nun reluctantly agrees, so John goes inside to the bar.

"Another pint for me, and a triple vodka on the rocks", then he lowers his voice and says to the barman "and could you put the vodka in a teacup?"

"Oh no! It's not that Nun again is it?"

Am I the only one who has noticed that all vegans are pale and sickly looking? Seems like to me, that they are suffering from malnutrition.

When I buy ketchup, it has to be Heinz and for mac and cheese it's gotta be KD. The taste is so much better for those 2 things. Are there certain foods that you always buy brand name?

I work in a Psych unit and we have a cooking class once a week and I am running out of different things I can make, I have a blender, a hot skillet, a fridge and a microwave. (NO STOVE) all of the things I make have to be low in fat and offer a diabetic version, and they have to be quick my group time is a total of 45 so no more than 30 minutes to have it on a plate to serve. I appreciate any advice and they need to be GOOD =)
