Singles & Dating - 3 December 2006

You know how if you go by "The Rules" a guy has to practically be stalking you and knocking down your door to get a date with you. If I played by these rules I would NEVER get a date. I'm not bad looking, probably about a 7 on a scale of 10. (But I live in California where there a ton of beautiful single women everywhere.) It seems like only the 9s and 10s get guys this interested in them willing to chase them and purue them this much. Am I wrong? What do you think?

How can you tell any way. But this man just says the kindest most reassuring things, or am I deluded? Can you really fall in love with a man because of his kind words? What do you think?

I really want to talk to this guy. I have never talked this guy so I don't know if he likes me. We would say hi to each other when we both went to the same middle school but then I had to go to a different middle school and now we go to the same high school. That was over a year ago so he probally doesn't even remember anyway. I am 14 and have never dated anybody before, which I guess if weird because all my friends have or have had boyfriends. What should I do though? He isn't in any of my classes but I see him in the hallways,before and after school and during lunch but we don't sit close to each other, I only see him after I am finished with my locker. Now that we are in high school I don't really now where he sits. We can kinda sit anywhere we want just not in the hallways. I'm shy though, he is always with his friends and I just want to talk to him when he isn't around so many people. All my friends I have started talking to me first. How can I make the first move? Please help me!

OK, How come some people get dates all the time and they are always with a boyfriend or girlfriend while others seem to find no one. I am 20 and I have never had a boyfriend and I do not think it is becuase I am ugly or anything becuase me friends tell me I am not... They tell me i just have to wait for the right person.

However they all constantly have boyfriends or girlfriends. So what makes them like that?? How come some people always have dates and boyfriends always while some never have them and are told they just have to wait!!! It is so frustrating to wait!

I dont know what I am doing wrong!! Does anyone know what is different about these two types of people?? Thanks!

i was dating a guy for a while we both were very physically attracted to one another and things broke up as i was upset about my job etc a little needy at the time...he always stares at me when we are out and the other day i apoligised to him and he said i was one of the most lovely people he had met and that initially he was intimidated by my job ( i have quite a high powered job and earn good money) he also said he thought i was gorgeous back then and still does, i said i was leaving and he kept on grabbing me and said he would love me...if he was single..When i chatted about one of my ex boyfriends he got jealous and said 'what about us?'. He has only just started to date someone else..i have always been infatuated with him and vice versa..what should i do should i ask him for a drink as friends, i think he could of beena potential one..

I once dated this guy who completely broke my heart.I spent months crying over him and fighting with him.Eventually,we became friends again,then best friends.He helped me through a rough time with my bf,and gave me the courage to end it.We fell in love again,or so i thought.But i think i was holding on to a first love dream.I realised i missed my ex too much and left him.He hasnt talked to me since,and i've lost my best friend,someone really dear to me.He's hurt by me,and this time a year ago i was hurt by him.I dont want to have lost him and i dont want to go into the new year like this?Can i talk to him and what can i say?

I have a girlfriend of 9 months and I love her to death and this girl that I see at parties all the time keeps trying to get with me. My g/f works weekend nights so she's never with me and I am against cheating. This other girl is very attractive, but its annoying. She tries calling me and texting me, but ive only answered once and blew her off. I havent told my g/f because I dont want to start an argument, but I did tell this girl I have a g/f but she seems not to care. Also at parties she tries to get me really drunk, but I wont bc I know what she's trying to do. Should I be an asshole to her and tell her to get lost or what bc im going to see her at the same parties I go to in the future (shes friends w/ my friends g/f) and it may be even more awkward. anything will help!

So my girlfriends friend just broke up with her boyfriend and she seemed a little crazy when she talked about her ex-bf's new girlfriend. Well, I was talking with MY gf about whether or not her friend and her ex every had sex. I told her not to tell her what I asked. The next week goes by and she asks her friend about whether or not they had sex and to top it off, she included that I asked her about it.

What do I do? I told her to keep it private and she didn't.I really really like this girl but I don't wanna keep dating her if she can't keep personal convo's private.

This guy I went out with once didn't call me until 2 weeks later, apologizing like crazy and saying he really wanted to see me again. Didn't call all weekend, not expecting him to call for a bit like last time. Don't intend on letting him get away with it, but my question is, is he doing this to keep me around like a Plan B? Or just being polite?

others....My brother lies...but not enought to get him in a lot of trouble..he has been doing this for years...he is in his 50's...he will CHANGE a story to suit him...and leave out the TRUTH...(secretly at home he will laugh about it).i have told him many times..."that is wrong to do"...he does not care..and CONTINUES TO LIE ABOUT HIMSELF AND OTHER PEOPLE...Do you feel that people who do get to know him FIGURE IT OUT??? OR NOT...he does not have any friends....But just says.."I don't need them."..so be it!! whew!!!

my boyfriend is the most wonderful guy, i love him and he loves me, Yet i can't get over his ex-girlfriend (even though he has)!
the problem is i feel like she is better than me (even though i'm more successful and older by one year) but by better i mean behavior wise. and also because SHE was the one who broke up with him, while HE really wanted her.
i talk and think about her more than i do about my boyfriend, i know it really bothers him.
he always assures me that nothing's going on between them but i can't believe him.
she called him once for no reason, she just wanted to talk, and then the other day i saw her comment on his page, she was flirting with him.
My boyfriend didn't respond to her and when she called he told her he has to go, but i don't know if they're talking to each other when i'm not around.
i don't think my boyfriend's over his ex even though he says he is and trys to show it to me.
i'm just very scared, and i REALY hate her!!!
i need help to get over this

to you did it mean anything or did the guy/girl leave you a week later?

i was 17 and at the time i thought it meant alot but she ended up dumping me 2 weeks later for some guy she met over the internet that lived 50 miles from here. so i guess it wasnt meaningful to her and its not really as meaningful to me now
