I have an idea of my own and I want your opinions. Tell, me your idea and I will give mine later, so please check back.

Please keep it to a single thing you could do (that is possible and practical).

Some examples (but not the thing I'm looking for):

Recycling.

Driving less/commuting.

Living off the grid.

Going vegetarian.

(These are just random examples, tell me your idea).

It’s already begun. Business will drive toward change because the cost savings makes alternative energy sources so much more profitable. How long will it take for developed nations to change?

leaving the Cell Phone Charger plugged into the wall? (without a cell phone connected to it).

My dad always complains about me leaving the lamp on when he always leaves his charger on the wall with no phone connected to it.

Only if it's really small? (cigarette butt, gum wrapper)

Depending upon whether it's biodegradable matter?
(Apple core, tomato slice you didn't want on your sandwich?)

If it's somewhere where some will be sure to pick up after you(like in the park)

Or somewhere that no one ever goes (you are driving across southern utah desert and you shoot your McDonald's bag out the window)

Do you think that there is too much trash on the ground, and if so, does it bother you?

It bothers me a lot to see so much rubbish on the ground, but I think that I am the only one that it bothers.

Ive heard alot of mixed messages.
From what I understand, eating red meat is one of the top 3 sources of global warming, but WHY?
I then read recently that the whole beef/global warming concept wouldnt actually do anything to help our earth!
Ive stopped eating beef, but Im still unsure if Im making a difference.
Can someone explain this to me?
Thanks!

Why couldn't power plants be replaced with "people power", people peddling bicycles for energy or something similar?
I mean, if it could provide a decent amount of electicity, wouldn't it create jobs too?
I want to know the physics behind this. Why isn't it doable?

Just to get away from the debating for a little bit, I think it would be fun to list some suggestions for small changes we can make to lessen our impact. I'm not talking about major things (or seriously debatable!) things like buying a Hybrid or living off the grid. Just simple every day things that we can easily do. It all adds up.

I'll start..

Bring a reusable mug with you when you get coffee.
Use a water filter instead of buying bottled water.
Line or rack dry clothes instead of using a dryer.
Switch from chemical cleaners to earth friendly products.
Use cloth instead of paper towels and napkins.

I am interested in learning what is the manufacturing process to make thin film solar cells? Could someone please guide me to the right place.

Is it possible to know a ballpark estimate on setting up the manufacturing plant?

Thanks in advance.

The energy labels are rubbish, i want to know in a %.

Ie how much energy if actually used, like a car is 30% efficent and a lightbulb is 10% useful energy.

Warning: Kind of gross, but truly a legitimate question.

I know two people who are in a debate about flushing toilet paper down the drain after use. Does this have a very negative impact on the environment, or is it okay to do so, without any real significant impact?

Environmentally friendly toilet paper is used with no bleach made with recycled paper, but should toilet paper be thrown in the trash, or flushed down the drain, when you're living in an urban area with normal city water treatment plants?

I turn off the lights when I leave a room, and if it's a sunny day I use the natural light instead of my lights.
I have my TV on for only a few hours, like 3 at the most. Same with my laptop.
I don't drive too much, just to and from school.
I reuse my plastic grocery bags.
Annnd...that's about it, I think. I'm not sure if what I'm doing there will "save the world", but if the world does end or whatever, I'll know that I attempted to save it :}.

What are you doing to help save the environment?
