Yes, there was solar panels on the White House in 1979,though they were quickly removed when Reagan was elected and he got in bed with the Saudis .

yes absolutely. And, it would make a difference b/c its the little things that make the big difference and yes it probably will not make much of a difference in the short term, but we have to think long term goals, if the white house uses solar power again, then we can hope that in the future other government buildings will begin to use them, then have it spread to the people. This defiantly won't happen over night, but if people have a "it's too hard so why bother trying," or a “well it wont change in my time so why should I care" attitude than nothing will get accomplished at all!!!or a " well it wont change in my time so why should i care" attitude than nothing will get accomplished at all!!!

I think that removing the panels really is a perfect example of how Conservatives view energy. These were installed and I assume working when Reagan removed. Why? No reason could possibly exist that would make sense other other he was trying to make his point that we need to be reliant on the oil industry and screw alternative forms of energy. And today with gas well over $3.00 a gallon Reagan looks the fool he always was.

What would it matter? Would it be a symbolic victory? I personally think we should use a lot of solar and wind power. I just don't see why it would matter if it was on the white house or not. It would not make me any more inclined to use solar power.

Yep. Hopefully Bush's successor will make a point of doing so shortly after s/he gets into office. Because I don't see Dubya doing that in the next 14 months.
